If you’re looking for a certain resource or item in Stardew Valley, it’s worth checking around the various vendors to make sure they don’t have it in stock. Of course there are items that just aren’t sold anywhere, but some things are easier to get than others.

The Desert Trader, found unremarkably in the Desert after you’ve completed the Vault Bundle and repaired the bus, has a number of items available. The vendor is available both during and outside of the Desert Festival. However, they’re not interested in your Gold. Flaunting it will get you nowhere, because the Desert Trader wants other semi-precious items in exchange for their wares.

There are two types of items sold by the Desert Trader in Stardew Valley: permanent stock and rotating stock. The former, as you’d expect, is always available regardless of the day. The items in the rotating stock is available on certain days, and it’s worth getting to know what’s up for grabs when. 

Permanent stock

13 items are always available for purchase from the Desert Trader. Here’s what you can get and what you’ll need to part with in exchange:

Rotating stock

There are 13 items in the pool for rotating stock at the Desert Trader. Most items have no limit to how many you can purchase, but a couple have special conditions:

  • Magic Rock Candy
    • Only one can be purchased each week
  • Void Ghost Pendant
    • Only available after reaching maximum friendship with Krobus
    • Only available if not already married
    • Can only be bought after upgrading the farmhouse
