Someone is scamming users on the Windows App Store by uploading a file and claiming it to be the game Darkest Dungeon.

Darkest Dungeon is not officially available on the Windows 8 Store. Instead, someone is listing it on there for $3.99 as a 2MB download.

This, of course, is a scam, as noted by Red Hook Studios co-president Tyler Sigman on Twitter earlier.

If anyone has a contact at Windows Game Store, please share. Somebody is scamming DD by selling it (illegally) on there.

Here it is:

Sigman went on to add that if users got the game from anywhere other than Steam or Humble Store, it's most likely a scam.

Thankfully, someone at Microsoft is on the case following the reports.

Thx for all the help re: DarkestDungeon and the Windows Game Store. We have a ticket open & several helpful MSFT people are shepherding it.

Darkest Dungeon is not the first game to fall victim of this trend. According to PCGamer plenty of scam apps take the name of a popular game and charge money for essentially nothing, without even attempting to clone the game itself like on the iOS App Store.
