Gigantic Army is the new 2D mech shooter from Nyu Media, a team that specialised in bringing Japanese indie games to the western market. It's out on Steam today, and fans of Contra or Metal Slug will probably want to check it out.

In a press release, Nyu Media confirmed that the download package also includes a make-your-own game box, that looks a lot like a SNES package. It looks like this:

The game sees players piloting a mech across six stages of 2D bullet hell, returning fire with a range of weapons, absorbing shots with your shield and tussling with twelve hulking bosses. There's also 42 Steam Achievements and custom load-outs.

At he time of writing; Gigantic Army not available to buy in the UK yet, but it will be at some point today here. Developer Astro Port has released a set of images that you can find below.
