H1Z1 has come back online after being taken down for extended periods overnight.
Update: The promised patch has been released and H1Z1 is now live again. You may face a long wait to get a game if you're in the EU, however. See the image below.
Original story: Critical bugs forced SOE to take freshly launched zombie MMO H1Z1 down last night, with servers remaining completely offline at the time of writing.
SOE boss John Smedley said the game would go down "briefly" 11 hours ago, but the relevant issues clearly remain unresolved.
Looks like a bug slipped in we are fixing fast. Coming down briefly

A patch delivery has been promised for today, and it's been confirmed that "work" is ongoing on EU servers.
Smedley updated on the situation via Twitter an hour ago.
Still working on 2 issues. Sorry for the extended downtime. Kind of issues that must be solved and not just go back to last patch.

H1Z1, SOE's DayZ competitor, has proved popular since its launch earlier this week. Between 150-200 servers were made available for the release.
Many servers were queued-up last night, with waits of over an hour to play not uncommon. The game has experienced a string of difficulties since launch, such as log-in and frame-rate problems.
