Sony's Games & Network division was very profitable in the last fiscal year, thanks to impressive PS4 sales.

Sony financials: 17.7 million PS4s shipped in fiscal year 2015

Sony has just revealed results for the full fiscal year 2016, which ended March 31.

The company shipped 17.7 million PlayStation 4 consoles across the full year, beating the 14.8 million record achieved over fiscal year 2014. Network revenue saw a great jump from $3.2 billion to around $4.9 billion.

PS3 sales continue to decline, but the overall performance of the PS4 and its hardware cost reductions helped offset that.

As a result, Sony's Games & Network Services division saw an 11.8 percent increase over fiscal year 2014, earning $13.7 billion in revenue.

Sony did not provide any forecast for fiscal year 2016, due to the impact of the Kumamoto earthquakes, where one of its production plants is located.
