Breath of the NES V2 Trailer (TOTAL GRAPHICAL REVAMP) Watch on YouTube

Remember the 2D prototype for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild that Nintendo presented during GDC this year? It inspired a fan-made project called Breath of the NES that looks adorable.

Developer WinterDrake is looking for more people to help make the game a reality, and even has a contingency plan for when Nintendo inevitably tells them to knock it off.

"If Nintendo asks me to stop using their IP, I do plan to continue development with my own original characters," they told Kotaku.

"I'm having way too much fun creating this world to just give up."

Essentially the game is a 2D Breath of the Wild, with interactive environments, smooth animations, a physics engine, day/night cycles, and even crafting.
