Elden Ring Nightreign is a spin-off cooperative adventure that emphasizes the multiplayer aspects of the 2022 smash-hit. Players operate in teams of three to tackle a roguelite adventure through Limveld, a mystical open world that is filled with enemies, loot, and points of interest. Of course, at the heart of any FromSoft game are the spectacular boss fights, and in Nightreign, players will take on an entity named the Nightlord. But the term doesn’t refer to just one being, which has been the cause for some confusion among players. With this in mind, we’ve put together everything there is to know about Elden Ring Nightreign’s Nightlord so far.
What is Nightlord in Elden Ring Nightreign?
Simply put, ‘Nightlord’ is the ultimate boss ofElden Ring Nightreign. A single Nightreign session is separated into three days, with each day growing in difficulty. On the final day, players will take on one of the eight grueling Nightlord bosses that serve as the curtain-closer to the gameplay session.

These climactic boss battles happen during the night of day three, and you’ll be transported to them via special doors.

We already witnessed Gladious, the three-headed dog, as one of the Nightlords in the Elden Ring Nightreign reveal. An IGN First YouTube video provided a look at the second Nightlord, named Libra. The creature blends Golden Order spells and Frenzied-Flame incantations to great effect, and also has a variety of melee attacks, making him a vicious enemy.
Beyond the boss battles, Nightlords carry significant lore implications for the Lands Between. Eagle-eyed fans have been hard at work piecing together clues from the trailer, and the prevailing opinion seems to suggest that there could be a singular entity known as Nightlord, whose origins trace back to the Nox.
Elden Ring players will know that the Nox are an ancient race that inhabited the subterranean Eternal Cities of Nokron and Nokstella. In Nightreign’s reveal trailer, a character can be seen clambering up a wall in an area whose architecture mirrors that of the Eternal Cities. Furthermore, Nightreign is confirmed to feature Ant enemies, just like the critters players fought in Nokstella.
All these signs point toward the Nox playing a crucial role in the game’s overarching narrative. And players online seem convinced that the cold-blooded race could be attempting a takeover of the Lands Between, with the Nightlord leading the charge. Of course, all this remains speculation until we get our hands on the game.
