SEO: FF7's Yuffie Can't Be One Of The Last Final Fantasy MTG Cards
Summary
- Yuffie may not have a card in Magic: The Gathering's Final Fantasy set.
- Gaps in the extended-art version's collector numbers suggest that Yuffie won't be included.
Magic: The Gathering's Final Fantasy crossover is arguably the best one yet. The collaboration is already Magic’s best-selling set, as well as breaking other records, like the Ancient Adamantoise boasting the highest toughness on a legal, playable MTG card. With such beloved characters, it's no wonder that the set has been so successful. However, it seems one fan-favourite may not get a card with this set at all.

Posts 1Yuffie usually has to settle for third place after Aerith and Tifa in Final Fantasy 7, but it seems her fans are in for some more disappointment. Thanks to some precise investigating by CaptainMarcia on Reddit, it looks like Yuffie will not be among the cards yet to be revealed for the MTG Final Fantasy set.
Yuffie May Not Feature In The MTG Final Fantasy Set
CloseThey deduced this by comparing all the cards that have been revealed to their extended-art version via their collector numbers. Since every legendary creature, which for this set are either named Final Fantasy characters or iconic enemies, also has an extended-art version, this reveals the gaps which the remaining cards will fill.
Considering they're sorted by colour, and then in alphabetical order, we can deduce what letter those cards will start with. Unfortunately, none of those letters are 'Y', so it looks like Yuffie will not be getting her own card. This means the only cards she has in the crossover are found in the Commander deck and the Through the Ages bonus sheet, with nothing in the main set itself.
As for what could be in the missing spots, 439 is missing, which is a white card between Dion and Minwu, 457 is likely a red card before Clive alphabetically, a multicolour card at 485 between The Emperor of Palamecia and Garland, 504 between Rufus and Sephiroth, and 515 between Vivi and Xande. 434 and 435 are also up for grabs.
While we'll have to wait and see what they are, the evidence is pretty clear that Yuffie will not be part of the set. However, the set may have just revealed who the canon character is for the Gold Saucer date in Final Fantasy 7.
