Summary

  • Funko is releasing Pop versions of the Power Rangers from their 1995 debut movie.
  • The figures are based on the Red, Blue, Black, Yellow, Pink, and White Rangers looks in the film.
  • The collection will be rounded out by Ivan Ooze and Ninja Megazord Funko Pops.

A lot of what was popular with kids in the '90s has endured three decades of being replaced by newer stuff thanks to millennials' inability to let go of their childhoods (sorry about that). That's why the unique looks the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers sported in their first movie have been turned into what will almost certainly be very popular Funko Pops.

The first images of what is going to be a pretty sizable Funko Pop drop later this week have been shared online (thanks, Funko Pop Hunters), revealing all of the MMPR's looks from their 1995 movie are getting the Funko Pop treatment. That's the core group, so the Red, Blue, Pink, Black, and Yellow Rangers, as well as the White Power Ranger who was introduced to the series the year prior and was front and center on the movie's poster.

The suits the Rangers wore for their big screen debuts were different in a few subtle ways, and those differences are reflected in these Funko Pops. All of them have a white diamond in the center of their chests (other than the White Ranger) but don't have white diamonds either side of them like their suits in the show.

The Pink Ranger's Pop is also equipped with her matching pink whip.

An Ivan Ooze Funko Pop, What A Time To Be Alive

The Rangers aren't the only characters from the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers movie being turned into Funko Pops this week. The villain from the movie Ivan Ooze will be joining them. This is probably the first time you've thought about Ivan Ooze for close to three decades, and within the next 48 hours, there might be a small, four-inch version of the purple antagonist winging its way to you.

The last, and likely largest, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie Funko Pop being released this week (and probably ever, who else from that film could possibly be worthy of the Funko Pop treatment?) is the Ninja Megazord. One of the first ways the original Megazord's design was given a serious upgrade, its Funko Pop appears to be slightly bigger than the other six Movie figures and may even have a metallic finish.

The Pops listings haven't gone live yet, but are expected to start appearing as soon as this Wednesday. That means prices haven't yet been confirmed, but the regular sized Pops will likely be $12.99 with the Megazord figure slightly more expensive. If you need something MMPR-themed to fill the time between reading this and listings going live, play Rita's Rewind. It's the retro Power Rangers beat 'em up that was released at the end of 2024, and it's very good.
