As with every game like Moonlight Peaks, while caring for your farm, you'll also need to whip out a bug net now and then to scoop up the little critters running around. Unfortunately, you won't start the game with a net, as you will with some of the other tools, so you'll need to progress before you can begin bug collecting.

Additionally, you won't need the net for critters alone. In addition to catching critters, you'll also use the net to capture Soul Blobs, which are floating little skulls you'll see in every part of the map. Of course, all of that only comes after you've received your net from Death.

How To Find Death And Unlock The Net

As mentioned, you'll need Death to give you the bug-catching tool, a net, which unfortunately won't happen until you're several days into the game. To encounter Death, you'll first need to progress through the main story quests until you've helped return Brook's missing Crest and Fiona has cleared the path to Misty Shores.

When all that's done, your next main objective will center around having a dinner party at the Ambrosia mansion in Misty Shores. By this point, if you head to Misty Shores, you should be pulled into a cutscene where you'll meet Death. If you've been making the most of your days, this should happen somewhere between days 10 and 15.

The first day you meet Death will be introductions, but if you come back the next day, then Death should teach you about Soul Blobs, the floating skulls, and provide you with a net to catch them. This is the same net you'll use to catch critters.

How To Catch Critters

Catching critters is pretty straightforward, especially if you've played something like Animal Crossing or Disney Dreamlight Valley. You need to swing the net once you're within reach of them, and they will be caught. The catch will then be followed by a brief animation of your character holding them up to display the name.

Of course, this is easier said than done. The critters and Soul Blobs will run from you if you get too close, so you will need to chase them down a bit to catch them. My personal advice is to corner them in an area where you can get close enough to guarantee a catch.

Every swing will cost you energy, even if you miss, so don't just run around swinging wildly in the hopes of getting lucky.

After you've caught a critter, you can view it in your collection in the menu. From there, you are free to use the critter as you see fit, store it, or sell it.
