Have you noticed various kinds of reactions during your combat segments in Neverness to Everness that occur when characters of different elemental types use their moves in succession? Have you seen how much damage can be done when you swap out the right character at just the right moments in combat?
By keeping characters of specific Esper types in your party in NTE, you can call on all kinds of elemental damage buffs through Esper Reactions. With six types of Espers in NTE, there are six unique elemental combinations you can use in battle by charging your Esper Cycle meter.
How Do Esper Cycles Work?
There's a lot to know off the top when you first start making your team combinations in NTE, but it's always important to keep in mind which of the six elements appear in your teams, since you'll be able to use the reaction between two or more elements to deal significant amounts of bonus damage in battles.

Posts By Gabrielle CastaniaNo matter which characters you've got in your team, you'll notice that below the character portraits for your teammates, everyone has an Esper Meter that charges as they participate in battle. Your combat skills themselves will charge it a bit, with basic attacks charging them slowly and skills charging them a bit faster than that, but the best way to charge your Esper Meter in NTE is to parry or perfectly dodge incoming attacks.
Check your favorite characters' support skills, since you may be able to adjust how quickly their Esper Meter fills under specific conditions.
You'll see that a character is ready to use their skills to your advantage with an entry attack when their meter is charged and their portrait pulses to catch your attention. This will send that character into battle with an upgraded basic attack, which will trigger the Esper Cycle between two elements if they're different between the two characters.
The six main elements in NTE are:
- Cosmos.
- Lakshana.
- Psyche.
- Chaos.
- Incantation.
- Anima.
You'll see varying Esper Cycle effects based on which of the six main elements are used, but it's critical to note that the elements must be next to one another on the elemental wheel you can see on the team formation screen to detail the Esper Cycles that team will be using in battle. Each element has an Esper Cycle reaction with the element beside it on this wheel, for a total of six dual-element combinations available.

These are the only two triple combinations available at the time of publishing this guide.
Every Esper Cycle Elemental Reaction In NTE
Esper Cycle Reaction
Elemental Reaction Effect
Two-Element Reactions
Blossom
Animaand Cosmos
Drops a turret, a Vita Bud, that blossoms with five Vita Pistils that fly toward targets in range, exploding every 2 seconds and dealing AoE damage. Up to three Vita Buds can exist on-field at once.
Hexed
Animaand Incantation
Deals follow-up attack damage based on the amount of Anima or Incantation damage the enemy sustained in the 12 seconds before triggering Hexed.
This means Hexed is most effectively triggered after a long combo of high-damage moves.
Nova
Chaosand Psyche
Attaches onto an enemy for 5 seconds, dealing massive damage at the end.
Remora
Cosmosand Lakshana
Slows the speed at which enemies attack and move around the field, decaying over the course of 5 seconds.
Trigger Remora if you need to get some space between you and your enemies.
Scorch
Chaosand Incantation
Creates a DoT attack that endures in place for 15 seconds to inflict lasting damage infliction on the enemy.
Stain
Lakshanaand Psyche
Makes the target take 20% more Lakshana and Psyche damage for the next 20 seconds.
Stain is good to inflict early in battle if you're running a team with these elements, to capitalize on the damage increase for as much of the 20 seconds as possible.
Three-Element Reactions
Charge
Anima, Cosmos, and Lakshana
Any enemy impacted by Remora hit with the Vita Pistils from your Blossom reaction will generate Ultimate energy for the character on-field each time they're hit.
Discord
Incantation, Chaos, and Psyche
Creating a perfect combination for breaking and staggering enemies, Discord makes enemies hit with both Nova and Scorch to take huge damage when they're broken or staggered.
