Though she was introduced when the game first debuted through the main story with the Tomato Demon, we're finally able to pull for Lacrimosa as of the version 1.1 update in Neverness to Everness, adding a second Discord character to the roster at long last.

This adorable DPS character will be a great fit for any team requiring Chaos as an element, especially if you haven't gotten your hands on Daffodil at any point during the original 1.0 version of the game. Here's a look at how best to build Lacrimosa in NTE and the best team comps for her.

Lacrimosa Overview

We met Lacrimosa during the section of the main story in NTE that dealt with a suspicious series of vending machines, but finally, we're able to pull for this S-Rank character at long last, bringing a second Chaos character into the fray at long last.

Neverness To Everness: Best Baicang Build And Team

Baicang might not be a strong captain at the Bureau of Anomaly in Neverness to Everness, but he's one heck of a strong Esper on your team!

Posts By  Gabrielle Castania

Anyone who already got Daffodil may be familiar with the power that comes with the Discord reaction in Neverness to Everness, pairing the might of the Scorch reaction with Incantation damage with that of the Nova reaction from pairing it with Psyche to help with any team relying on stagger or break damage during combat.

Lacrimosa specifically uses Break quite a lot, so inflicting Discord will be a major component to using her as a main DPS character on your best team comps, but the main draw of adding her is to invoke her passive that triggers with Discord, called Tomato Banquet. In combat, she has both a melee and a ranged attack, which gives you a pretty versatile fighter in Lacrimosa no matter what kind of enemy you're up against in a fight.

She's also great for overworld exploration, turning into a bat when she dashes to make traversing Hethereau City a breeze.

Lacrimosa's Esper Abilities

Basic Attack: Sweet and Sour (Tomato Metal)

Melee attack. Swings her Frying Pan, performing up to 5 consecutive attacks, dealing Chaos damage. The projectile generated by the second attack can be shattered by subsequent attacks, causing an explosion and dealing extra Chaos damage.

Flavor Variation: Use the the Aim button to toss Lacrimosa's Frying Pan and perform a flying kick forward when using Tomato Metal, dealing 1 instance of Chaos DMG to each target hit. Switches her attack module to Tomato Percussion. Leaps into the air and slams the ground, dealing 1 instance of AoE Chaos damage when using Tomato Percussion. Switches her attack module to Tomato Metal. The current Basic Attack style determines the attack pattern of Working Day Judgement.

Nightmare: Inflicts Nightmare on the target when attacks hit, up to 10 stacks. Inflicts 1 stack of Nightmare per damage instance when a single Basic Attack deals multiple instances of damage.

Basic Attack: Sweet and Sour (Tomato Percussion)

Ranged attack. Manipulates Red Jelly, performing up to 5 consecutive attacks, dealing Chaos damage.

Devilish Inspiration: Hold to enter Aim mode. Deals 1 instance of Chaos DMG to an enemy in the crosshair and learns their combat technique. Temporarily forgets Morning Tomato and uses the learned technique upon successful learning. Learned techniques are stored permanently in Lacrimosa's memory. New techniques can be learned to replace existing ones, or Lacrimosa can actively forget a technique on the Skill page to recall Morning Tomato.

Lycopersicum Meteors: Manipulates Esper Ability Constructs in the air and plunges, dealing 1 instance of Chaos DMG to an area upon impact. Increases DMG based on fall height, up to 100%.

Skill: Morning Tomato

Throws a barrage of unfinished Esper Ability Constructs, dealing an instance of Chaos damage to all targets within the area and inflicting Nightmare. Combos into the last instance of Tomato Metal or Tomato Percussion after casting Morning Tomato.

Ultimate: Working Day Judgment

Controls the Truck when using Tomato Metal, dealing 10 instances of Chaos DMG to an area and inflicting Nightmare on all targets in range. Dismantles the Car when using Tomato Percussion, dealing 5 instances of Chaos DMG to an area and inflicting Nightmare on all targets in range.

Support Skill: Microwake

Manipulates Esper Ability Constructs, dealing 1 instance of Chaos DMG to an area.

Support Skill Enhancements

  1. Tomato Banquet: Deals additional damage equal to 400% of attack to the target when Discord is triggered when attacking a target that's already Broken.
  2. Sleep In: Grants an additional attempt of Morning Tomato after Lacrimosa uses Tomato Metal or Tomato Percussion 5 times during the skill cooldown, activating once per skill cooldown.

Best Teams For Lacrimosa

  • Best Lacrimosa Teams

    • Sakiri
    • Daffodil
    • Fadia
  • Best F2P Lacrimosa Teams

    • Adler
    • Edgar
    • Haniel

Since Lacrimosa relies so heavily on the Discord reaction made possible by pairing her with Psyche and Incantation characters, you'll find her best teammates to be of both of these abilities no matter if you're looking for a general best team for Lacrimosa or one that's more friendly for free-to-play players.

You'll generally do well to use your best Psyche and Incantation characters on a team with Lacrimosa, with special mention going to Sakiri given her ability to increase how much damage you do with your DoT attacks, which Lacrimosa has plenty of in her kit. Fadia is the S-Rank Psyche character that pairs best with her, boosting sustainability for the team overall with her HP-friendly build.

Rounding out the best team for Lacrimosa is the only other Chaos character we've got in the game at the time of her debut, Daffodil. She's great for teams that rely on Break, so she's a great pairing for Lacrimosa even before you consider the additional chance she gives to inflict Discord and its associated Esper Cycle reactions.

The same elements should be present in a F2P team for Lacrimosa, using Adler to inflict Incantation damage and Haniel for Psyche, especially with her buffs and assorted other boosts. You can round out the team with pretty much any character, since those three can inflict Discord without fail, so we like to bring Edgar along for some good healing capabilities where we need.

Best Awakenings For Lacrimosa

Clock Out Clemency

Increases the damage ratio of Nightmare to 8% of the current skill level.

Rise and Shine

Increases Lacrimosa's damage for 15 seconds when she swaps in using a Support Skill.

Molten Ice Cream

Triggers all accumulated Nightmare effects at once whe the fifth hit of Tomato Metal or Tomato Percussion lands.

Almighty Lord of Tomatoes

Extends the duration of Nightmare to 6 seconds.

Tempered Glass Judgment

Reduces the target's Max HP by 200% of Nightmare damage dealt when dealing Nightmare damage to said target. Restores Lacrimosa's HP every 3 seconds based on the Nightmare damage dealt during that period, restoring HP equal to 1.5% of the total. Prevents Nightmare stacks from being removed when the target is healed.

Morning Spell

Allows Lacrimosa to automatically cast her Support Skill and trigger the corresponding cycle without Cycle Energy accumulation when switching to her from any character that can trigger Esper Cycle: Nova, Scorch, or Discord within 5s after casting Devilish Gift.

3-Awakening Resonance Effect: The Heart's Drowsy Flames

Increases the level of Sweet and Sour, Morning Tomato, Devilish gift, and working Day Judgment by 1.

6-Awakening Resonance Effect: Lullaby

Lacrimosa's damage ignores 10% of the target's overall defense.

There's no wrong way to build Lacrimosa's awakenings in NTE, with the ability to swap between them freely as you need.

That said, our priority for them is as follows:

  1. Tempered Glass Judgment is most important, given that it saps HP from enemies and gives it to Lacrimosa, additionally preventing Nightmare gfrom being removed should they happen to heal after.
  2. Almighty Lord of Tomatoes boosts the time Nightmare deals damage by a whole second, which is a 20 percent increase in damage time for a DoT move.
  3. Clout Out Clemency boosts the damage done by Nightmare, which is especially potent if you have that additional time boost from Almighty Lord of Tomatoes.
  4. Morning Spell increases the amount of damage Lacrimosa can do against enemies impacted by elemental damage from an Esper Cycle, especially with Discord so potent with her best builds as well.
  5. Molten Ice Cream helps Lacrimosa immediately trigger Nightmare stacks after a full five-move attack of Sweet and Sour in either form, melee or ranged.
  6. Rise and Shine is a nice way to round out the best Lacrimosa builds in NTE, given the relatively unexciting boost to her damage after using Support Skills to switch into battle.
