Mounts can be unlocked when you reach level 20 in New World: Aeternum. You'll receive a mount quest pop-up when you reach level 20, which is quite early on in the game. Just head over to the yellow horseshoe on your map - located north of Everfall - and complete the quest there. And that's it, you've got a mount.

Now you've acquired your mount, you can begin leveling your mount and increasing your riding skill by completing a range of mount quests on your map. These quests are located across the map, which means you may need to level up your character before you can reach some areas.

How To Unlock Mounts

Mounts become available when you reach level 20, where a pop-up for a quest called My Kingdom For A Horse will appear in Everfall, north of the main town.

Head over to Jochi Khan's stable, complete the short quest, and you'll be given your first mount. New mounts can be purchased at Jochi's shop for gold, or other mounts can be purchased from the in-game premium shop.

How To Level Up Mounts

Leveling your mount comes in the form of completing more riding quests - these are all short races with a time restriction.

These appear as small golden gates that resemble a finishing line on your map.

Several will be made available in the starting areas, with further races unlocked as you level your riding skill and unlock new areas of the map.

How To Increase Riding Experience

When you complete these quests, you will be rewarded with riding experience and Mount Vitamins. You can use these Mount Vitamins at the cooking station to create Mount Vittles. You'll need Water, Barley and Milk to craft them. Feed these to your horse for an increase in riding skills.

You can only coinsume three Mount Vittles per day. As you increase your cooking skill you can also craft different rarities of Mount Vittles, up to Tier 4. Luxury Mount Vittles are available at riding level 150 and offer a 15,000 riding experience when consumed.

Completing the riding quests will also reward you with a flat boost to your riding experience.
