This Week In Overwatch 2: Easier To Get New Heroes, Doomfist Redemption, And Glitching Below The Map
While most of the news you've been hearing about Overwatch 2 has primarily been on the sheer amount of bugs and balancing issues, the number of complaints have started reducing overall. Even in this roundup, the news is split 50-50 between good and bad – hopefully, that means the devs are getting a handle on things, and we can soon focus on the game rather than the issues. Let's hear the good news first.

Blizzard Makes New Heroes Easier To Unlock
It appears that Blizzard is listening to players, as one of the biggest issues with new heroes was the grind to unlock them. Previously, players would have to grind until Tier 55 of the battle pass to unlock Kiriko and the recently added Ramattra, or pay up if they didn't want to grind too hard. The devs have now dropped the unlocks to Tier 45.
"Quick update on some changes coming to Season 2,” said Game Director Aaron Keller on Twitter. “After reviewing data for Season 1, we're moving Ramattra into Tier 45 of the Battle Pass and making a few more weekly challenges easier to complete. Excited for you all to see everything new in Season 2 starting tomorrow!”
While a bit less, Tier 45 is still a grind, and you may be salty about it. So, Blizzard decided to give away a Salt charm along with Ramattra.
Update Makes Doomfist Viable For The First Time Since Launch
Doomfist was given a raw deal with Overwatch 2. With the new 5v5 format, he was reworked into a tank, meaning the queues for him became much longer. On top of that, the reworked balancing nerfed him quite a bit, and the recently launched Ramattra could do everything he could, but better. Now, finally, the devs have given him a much needed buff, taking him back to his former glory.
"Us Doomfist mains have been called garbage for playing him in season one. Now I can play doom without being harassed," said one comment on a discussion thread for the Hero. "He has terrorized every game I’ve been in since the new update," said another. He may not be OP, but he's finally a decent Hero.
Bug Makes Baptiste's Immortality Field Useless
And we're back to the bugs. It appears that one of Baptiste's best abilities, the Immortality Field, just doesn't work sometimes. As documented by one Redditor in a rather comical video, Baptiste keeps throwing out the field drone, which appears to be doing nothing. It seems to only work randomly, meaning you need to keep throwing it in the hope that it will deploy.
We tried this out for ourselves, and the ability was a bit finicky in some parts of Busan. It's unclear whether Blizzard is aware of this. If so, it will hopefully be a quick fix, and won't require the character to be removed.
Sombra And Kiriko Can Go Out Of Bounds In The New Map
The new Shambali Monastery map has a few issues with out of bounds travel. In this case, it appears that Sombra can clip between a set of staircases on the map, and then use her Translocator ability to go below it. She could shoot enemies from there, and even use the ability to pop back up as a surprise.
To make matters worse, it now appears that Kiriko can follow Sombra below the map, thanks to her Swift Step ability, and cause double the mayhem.
