Oblivion Remastered has many enchanted items you can get as loot or create yourself to better your gameplay. There is a drawback to using enchanted items, as you’ll be unable to take advantage of their unique effects when they run out of charge.

Oblivion Remastered: Best Sigil Stone Effects

Grabbing a Sigil Stone from one of Oblivion Remastered's Oblivion Gates is a great way to get powerful new abilities.

While you could visit a merchant and get your enchanted items recharged, it may be better to trap souls into soul gems and recharge or enchant the items yourself. The power of your enchanted item and how much charge you get depend on the power of the soul trapped. This is why it's wise to trap the best souls for each soul gem size to use them to their full potential.

6 Mudcrab

Petty Soul Gem

Mudcrabs are one of the easiest creatures to kill in Oblivion Remastered thanks to their low health. You should easily be able to kill them and trap their soul with just a couple of quick hits. Their attacks deal low damage, and they’re quite slow, so it should be easy to avoid their attacks and kill them quickly.

Mudcrabs can be found near bodies of water and can be commonly encountered near Cyrodiil’s coastlines. You will also find them in caves, sewers, and other places that contain water. Quickly kill the creature and trap its soul when you find it to avoid contracting the Swamp Fever disease.

5 Scamp

Lesser Soul Gem

Scamps are one of the weakest Daedra creatures that will start to spawn once you deliver the amulet to Jauffre, and Oblivion Gates start opening across Cyrodiil. They have a decent amount of health and deal relatively low attack damage. Killing them shouldn’t be hard as long as you find one alone and not with a group of other Daedric creatures. You can also use the Summon Scamp spell if you are having issues.

You can trap souls of Everscamps that spawn because of the Staff of Everscamp if you’ve started the Whom Gods Annoy quest. They’re a good source of lesser souls as they’ll continue to respawn, and you can keep trapping their souls. Using these creatures is also beneficial because they have lower health than normal Scamps, so you can kill them faster.

4 Faded Wraith

Common Soul Gem

Faded Wraiths are the weakest form of Wraiths. You can easily tell them apart because the former are more transparent, hence their name. They’re part of the undead creatures who can’t be harmed by normal means. You have to use Daedric, enchanted, or silver weapons to deal damage to them.

Faded Wraiths can be encountered within chapel undercrofts and various Ayleid ruins. Just be sure to pack sufficient weapons so you can deal damage to them, as they’re decently strong, and you may fall if you’re not prepared. Wraiths are known to cast Silence spells to combat mages and use strong frost attacks against opponents.

3 Skeleton Champion

Greater Soul Gem

Skeleton Champions are armed with a leveled and potentially enchanted claymore or bow, depending on whether you run into a Warrior or archer. They have decent health and can deal average damage to opponents. However, their biggest advantage is the summon spell they can use to bring another skeleton into the fight and make things tougher for you.

You can also use a summon spell to bring forth a Skeleton Champion who will be identical to its claymore-wielding counterpart but won’t be able to summon another skeleton. This will make the fight easier for you and let you defeat the creature without much trouble.

2 Xivilai

Grand Soul Gem

Xivilai is one of the most dangerous Daedra that deals massive damage to its opponents. They can also use various spells that deal significant damage. This makes sense as they have a grand soul, which is the highest level in Oblivion Remastered. If you want to defeat an Xivilai, then you must make sure you have sufficient combat skills to take them down.

Here's how you can make your playthrough of Oblivion Remastered more immersive and realistic.

The Daedric creature commonly uses Shock and fire spells against enemies, but thankfully, they have stunted magika, so it can’t restore magic. This is why you should be wary about using magic against it, because you may help it regain magika as it absorbs your spells. Xivilai also usually summon a Clannfear to further overpower their enemies before beginning a fight.

You can get the Azura's Star, a reusable grand soul gem, if you complete Azura’s Daedric quest.

1 Bandits

Black Soul Gem

Black soul gems are the only ones in Oblivion Remastered that can trap the souls of NPCs. There is a unique method of creating them, and you could potentially kill any NPC and trap their souls. However, it isn’t so easy because you may get caught for murdering or assaulting a character.

This is why it's easier to kill enemy NPCs who don’t live near cities. For instance, bandits are one of the best NPCs to use with the black soul gem, as they can commonly be found in bandit camps and caves. You can easily kill them and trap their soul in your black soul gem without getting in trouble with the law. If you find it hard to encounter bandits, then you could complete the Knights of the White Stallion quest. Completing that quest allows you to find and kill Black Bow Bandits.
