Not every quest in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered revolves around bloodshed, looting, or stirring up chaos. Sometimes, you’ll stumble upon quests that take a gentler approach, where instead of swinging a sword, you’ll be using your charm, wit, or even your patience to get things done.

One great example of this slower-paced experience is the quest Go Fish. You’ll come across a modest fisherman who asks for your help gathering a specific kind of fish scale. As the name hints, you’ll be doing a bit of fishing yourself, though not in the traditional sense. Let’s just say this kind of fishing involves more exploring than casting lines.

How To Start The Go Fish Quest

In order to start the Go Fish quest, you need to locate Aelwin, who can be found during the morning around Weye, located to the west of the Imperial City. When you find him, he will approach you and interact with you.

Make sure not to use the laugh at him option, as it might affect your relationship with him and potentially lock you out of the quest.

During the conversation, he will mention that he needs 12 Rumare Slaughterfish, and this will begin the Go Fish quest.

The quest marker will then take you to the lake just ahead north where you need to, as you might have expected, go fish and get those Scales for him.

How To Get Rumare Slaughterfish Scales

Now, in order to find the Rumare Slaughterfish, you need to locate a certain type of fish known as Slaughterfish. These are long white fish that can be found around the shores of the lake, not actually inside it.

Here are two tips in order to make the process a bit easier:

• It's best to do this during the day so you will have clear visibility on the fish.
• Additionally, the Detect Life spell can be extremely useful, as it highlights any nearby fish.

After you find one, attack it using your melee weapon and then loot its corpse to get one Rumare Slaughterfish Scale. You need to repeat the process and find 11 more.

Sometimes, you might find them flopping on the shores, and these still count, of course.

How To Complete The Go Fish Quest

So, simply walk around the shore of the lake and you should be able to find all of them. If not or you're missing a few of them, fast travel to another location and wait 24 hours before returning to the lake.

After you get your hands on 12 Rumare Slaughterfish Scales, head back to Aelwin and speak to him. Give him the scales, and he will be so happy for your help. As a reward, he will give you the Jewel of the Rumare ring.
