Oblivion Remastered: Scheduled For Execution Quest Walkthrough
The next major assassination contract for the Dark Brotherhood in Oblivion Remastered is Scheduled For Execution, an unusual quest that sends you back to the Imperial City Prison, where you began the game with Emperor Uriel Septim. While this is a Dark Brotherhood contract, this will also be the first chance you get to fulfill an optional objective that requires you to avoid killing.

Posts 1 By Andrew ScariatiThis quest offers you the rare opportunity to retrace your steps to the early moments before you fully got your bearings, which makes this a satisfying tour to take. However, while you're strolling down memory lane, keep your wits about you and prepare to get rid of Valen Dreth.
How To Start Scheduled For Execution
After you've finished Accidents Happen, make your way back to Vicente Valtieri to talk about your next mission: Scheduled for Execution.
Make sure you bring plenty of lockpicks for this section, as opening locked doors is necessary to progress.
This time, you will be tasked with killing a prisoner named Valen Dreth by infiltrating their cell using the Imperial City Sewer System.
Vicente Valtieri will tell you about a grate outside the Imperial City Prison which you can use to access your target.
You will receive a bonus reward for not killing any prison guards, so keep your weapons holstered when you reach the guard section in the sewers.
How To Infiltrate The Imperial City Sewers
Fast travel to the Imperial Prison Sewer near where you began the game and enter the grating using the key Vicente provided.
When you enter the sewers, the path will diverge right and forward. Go to the right and kill the mud crab, then enter the area with foul green sewage. Go through the door to the sewers to enter the next area.
In this next area, kill the rat and mud crab, then move on and enter the large southeastern room.
Turn left toward the north, dispatching the mud crabs along the way, and follow the sewage through a passage into another room.
Progress to the opposite side of the room from where you entered and follow the corridor northwest into a room with two more mud crabs and a Hard locked gate blocking where you need to go.
It may take a few tries, but once the door is open, continue onward into the next sewer section.
You'll enter a large round room with a fish flopping in the center. Descend the stairs and follow the tunnel through a gate heading southeast and into the next room, and turn right where you'll see a wheel and a sealed gate.
Enter the room across from the wheel, ignoring the wheel entirely. Deal with the rats and mud crabs, then ascend the stairs and pick the Average lock to enter The Sanctum.
Here is where you'll want to make use of any Chameleon and invisibility potions, spells, and gear, as you'll exit into an area swarming with guards.
When you hear two people in the middle of a conversation, tread carefully, and keep to the shadows so you don't attract attention in this area.
Sneak forward and wait for the guards to break up their chat and split up, then proceed directly through the door, quietly following the Redguard into the next room.
Then, as he continues walking along the left path, divert from following him and quietly sneak up the stairs and use the door to enter the Imperial Subterrane.
How To Find & Assassinate Valen Dreth
Head forward and hug the far side of the room from where you entered, sneaking past a guard with a torch who walks past you in the opposite direction. Move slowly to avoid creating noise, especially if you're wearing Heavy Armor.
Progress southwest into the next room and cross the room to head up the stairs and use the doors in the southwest corner to pass through an abandoned area into the Imperial Prison.
As soon as you enter this area, you'll notice a green arrow on your compass, meaning Valen Dreth isn't far now.
Sneak forward and up some stairs, northwest through the broken wall, and into your cell from the beginning of the game.
Wait for Valen Dreth to finish his conversation with the guard, then exit your cell and turn left to find a table with a key to Valen Dreth's cell and an Imperial Prison key.
Approach Valen Dreth. He will ask you to help, but you know the real reason you're there: to kill him. Use the key next to the table and open the cell to kill Valen Dreth.
You can also kill him with a bow, destruction magic, or summoning a creature to attack him. Just don't let him run away if you open the cell.
Then, using the Imperial Prison Key, you can leave via the door up the stairs to the right of Dreth's cell.
Dash past the man sitting at the desk (you're in a public area now, so he shouldn't care) and out the door, and you'll be able to fast travel back to Vicente Valtieri, without having killed a single guard.
What Rewards Do You Get From Scheduled For Execution?
For killing Valen Dreth and completing the bonus objective by leaving all guards alive, you'll earn the Scales Of Pitiless Justice.
If you kill any guards, you will receive the gold reward, but not the Scales.
While carrying them, you'll gain two points in Agility, Strength, and Intelligence, but lose two in Personality while you have the Scales in your inventory.
You also earn up to 600 gold, depending on level, as your standard payment.
With Scheduled For Execution behind you, you can move on to the next Dark Brotherhood quest, The Assassinated Man. You can also speak to Teinaava to acquire the optional quest, The Renegade Shadowscale.
