Posts By John SchuttOne standout among the available DLC quests is Repairing the Orrery. This particular quest is a bit different from the rest, as completing it unlocks access to a functioning orrery. Depending on the current moon phase, using it grants temporary stat boosts, making it a rewarding tool to your character and worth doing.
How To Start Repairing The Orrery Quest
After you reach the Imperial City, make your way to the Arcane University, located just south-east of the city.
Inside, you should find a lady called Bothiel, and she will give you a note with all the items needed in order to repair the Orrery.
This will first take you to Camp Ales, located at the very west of the map. Once you reach it, you will find a few bandits.
Deal with them first, then loot them. One of them should have an item called an undelivered letter.
The letter will mention that the four artifacts are in a safe place at four campsites just around.
How To Get All Artifacts For The Orrery
For every camp, there will be a specific bandit called Bandit Carrierwho will have an artifact that you need to retrieve from them. These are:
- Brotch Camp - Dwarven Cog
- Dagny's Camp - Dwarven Coherer
- Bodean Camp - Dwarven Cylinder
- Varus Camp - Dwarven Tube
After you recover all four items, head back to the Arcane University and speak to Bothiel once again.
Give her all the items, and she will thank you and give you gold as your reward, but that’s not it.
How To Complete Repairing The Orrery Quest
Give Bothiel a day in order to be able to repair the Orrery with the items you just received, so feel free to skip 24 hours. After that, go inside and make your way to the door in the middle to access the Orrery.
Once inside, make your way to the upper floor and then make sure to interact with the console in order to activate the Orrery.
How Does The Orrery Work?
The Orrery can reward the player with certain greater powers depending on the moonphase active at the time. These phases change every three days, and if you're wondering how to check them, you can observe the command console.
Keep in mind that you can only accept one power at a time, and if you need to switch, you'll have to wait for the specific moonphase in order to get it.
The table below shows all the greater powers you can obtain from the Orrery and what they do.
