Posts By Jon SuanOne such side quest is the Antipodean Hammer. After speaking with the local blacksmith in town, you're enlightened to a new possibility: he offers to forge incredibly powerful gear, but only if you can bring him the specific materials required.
This quest is part of the Shivering Isles DLC.
How To Start The Antipodean Hammer Quest
There are two ways in which you can start this quest.
- The first one is either by obtaining an Amber randomly from exploring the Shivering Isles
- The other way is simply making your way to Dumag gro-Bonk at The Missing Pauldron in the Bliss, which is to the very east of the map. When you talk to him, he mentions that he can forge powerful gear for you, but you will need to get him materials for it.
Either one of the ways above will prompt the quest to begin.
How To Complete The Antipodean Hammer Quest
Amber can be obtained from two sources: Gnarls, a specific type of enemy that looks like walking trees, and hollowed glowing trees, both of which can be found inside caves with entrances marked by massive trees.
Some of these caves are:
- Knotbone Chamber, located to the west of the map
- Knotty Bramble, located to the south of the map
- Dunroot Burrow, located to the north of the map
Here is a map of all the available caves on the map to make it easy for you, as it seems that most, if not all, caves will have some sort of Gnarls or hollowed trees.
Sometimes, you will find a few Gnarls roaming outside, but once you enter the caves, they will be plentiful. The caves will be filled with these enemies, as well as hollowed trees that you can harvest Amber from.
After you collect some Amber, head back to Dumag gro-Bonk. He will give you a list of items you can forge ranging from weapons and armor pieces.
Here is a complete list of all the gear pieces that you can craft from Amber and how many you need for each one of them.
Amber Needed
Gear Piece
Weapon
1 piece
Arrows (per 25)
2 pieces
Bow
4 pieces
Hammer
2 pieces
Mace
3 pieces
Sword
Armor
2 pieces
Boots
5 pieces
Cuirass
2 pieces
Gauntlets
3 pieces
Greaves
2 pieces
Helmet
2 pieces
Shield
Even if you craft all the items, the quest won’t be marked as complete, and that’s normal. Just remember that these items are leveled, so you can buy better versions of weapons and armor you already have, as long as you have the Amber.
If it bothers you that the quest is stuck in your journal like it did for me, you can use the console command 'completequest SE30' to remove it.
