Summary

  • Someone has already unlocked Oblivion Remastered's Platinum Trophy.
  • They revealed they're the second person to unlock it, meaning someone completed the feat before them.
  • They unlocked the Trophy roughly 30 hours after the remaster was shadowdropped.

The rumors really were true. Two years after it first surfaced in court documents, Bethesda released Oblivion Remastered. Not only did it release it, but it shadow dropped it, throwing us out there for us all to play, and boy, have some of you been playing.

You will have likely seen people bragging about how many hours they've invested in Oblivion Remastered already. At the time of typing this, the remaster, which feels closer to a remake considering how much work has gone into it, has been available for a little more than 48 hours. That's what makes it hard to believe that at least two people have already unlocked its Platinum Trophy.

Reddit user u/shadowfoxboy revealed on the r/Trophies subreddit that they have already earned Oblivion Remastered's Platinum Trophy. There are a couple of things that make this feat even more unbelievable than it already is. For starters, the Oblivion player notes that they aren't the first person to unlock the Trophy, confirming that they lost out on first place. Unclear who got there first, but a huge congratulations to you.

Also, are you okay?

Someone Has Already Unlocked Oblivion Remastered's Platinum

I'm Unsure Whether To Be Impressed Or Concerned

To make the second-placed Platinum Trophy winner's feat even more impressive, by the time you read this, their Reddit post will be 18 hours old. The image attached shows that they unlocked the Platinum at 10:28 pm, and judging by the time the accomplishment was shared on Reddit, they appear to be based in the UK, or somewhere that shares the same timezone as the UK.

According to PSNProfiles, 0.07 percent of people playing Oblivion Remastered on PlayStation have unlocked its Platinum Trophy. Since it's not clear how many people are playing the remaster on PlayStation, it's hard to tell if the number of players with the Platinum is still sitting at two or if more people have unlocked it in the 18 hours since the second-placed trophy hunter crossed the finish line.

There's a chance more people have unlocked it, and an even bigger chance quite a few more will have joined them by this time next week. Even though Oblivion is a big game, most of its 51 Trophies can be unlocked by simply progressing through the game and its questlines as intended. That doesn't make unlocking its Platinum a little more than a day after the game launched any less impressive. The original Oblivion's main story takes around 31 hours to beat according to HowLongToBeat, and it seems likely the remaster will have a similar completion time.
