Posts By Mohamed El OuardighiOne of the more memorable quests in the game involves an entire village that has turned invisible. You'd get used to going through villages filled with NPCs only to find this one devoid of them, or so you thought. Of course, the quest involves a mage who has had too much fun experimenting with spells.
How To Start The Zero Visibility Quest
To start the Zero Visibility quest, you must head to Aleswell and talk to Diram Serethi.
You will get to fight invisible enemies, so spells like Detect Life will be useful for this quest. However, they're not fully invisible since the spell leaves a faint outline.
Where To Find Aleswell
To start the task, you must head to Aleswell, north-northwest of the Imperial City. If you follow the road west from the Imperial City, then go north and then east, you'll run into the village. Once you're there, you'll need to head inside the Aleswell Inn, located south of the village.
When you enter the inn, an invisible NPC called Diram Serethi will talk to you. He will tell you about everyone in the village being invisible and that it was the fault of a wizard called Ancotar.
How To Complete The Zero Visibility Quest
Diram Serethi will task you with finding Ancotar in the ruins of Fort Caractacus. The fort can be found south of the village down the hill. Be prepared for a fight because the fort will have a couple of invisible leveled enemies.
Where To Find Ancotar
Once you've cleared the fort of enemies, you'll need to talk to Ancotar. He will be invisible just like the villagers, but while walking around the ruins, he will shout at you to leave. He's usually on the second or third floor of the ruins, so look for his invisible outline there.
You can also use Detect Life spells.
When you get near him, he should talk to you and ask what you're doing there. Tell him about the Invisibility Spell and how it affected the town. He will then give you a scroll that can reverse the invisibility. All you need to do is go back to Aleswell and cast the spell scroll in the middle of the town.
To cast the spell scroll and affect the whole town, you'll need to cast it in the middle of the farm, which is in the middle of the town. If you fail to cast it there, you can ask for another scroll from Ancotar, but if you fail again, he won't give you another one.
Casting the scroll in the middle of the town will reverse the invisibility spell on the villagers. The scroll will also damage your Luck attribute by 50 points, which you can heal through Restore Luck potions or spells. You can also go to any church or chapel and interact with the altars there to restore your luck.
How To Get Ancotar's Ring of Protection
If you don't want your luck to be drained, then you'll need another item from Ancotar. If you're a member of the Mages Guild, you will get a new dialogue option where you can say 'Not at all. Tell me more.' when he's talking about the spell. Raising his disposition above 70 will also work.
If you either choose that dialogue option or raise his disposition, he will give you a ring. When you ask about the Reverse Invisibility Spell, he'll give you a ring called 'Ancotar's Ring of Protection.' Wear this ring when casting the spell scroll to protect you from the spell damaging your luck attribute.
How To Get A Free Room In Aleswell Inn
Once you've reversed the invisibility, go back to the Aleswell Inn and talk to Diram Serethi, who should be visible now. He will thank you for reversing the spell. You can then ask him about the bed, and he will give it to you for free for the rest of the game.
The room you get isn't the most glamorous, with only a bedroll and a dresser, but it is free. Not only that, but you can keep items inside the dresser, so it's a great early home for new characters.
