A Fan Claims To Be Monitoring Rockstar's Decibel Levels To Figure Out When The GTA 6 Trailer Is Coming
The lack of information about Grand Theft Auto 6 is driving fans to bonkers. Last month was particularly bad, with Best Buy reportedly sending an email to affiliates with a misleading pre-order date, but they've used the moon and astral charts, GTA Online details, and just about any other tidbits they can find to predict when news will come.
Not many, however, have taken it to the lengths one Redditor claims to have taken, with a new post on the social media platform suggesting they've set up audio monitoring equipment in the vicinity of Rockstar North's HQ in order to monitor the decibel levels to see when GTA 6's third trailer is coming.
Somebody Is Claiming To Have Placed Acoustic Monitoring Equipment Outside Rockstar North
Now, before we begin, I want to say that I'm completely and utterly skeptical that this is real, but I've looked for ways to disprove this claim, even comparing the surroundings of Rockstar North's building with the Redditor's supposed picture of their setup, and reverse image searching the pictures they shared, and I just couldn't. While this seems utterly far-fetched, I would not put it past GTA 6 fans to try something like this.
Above is an image that Reddit user Then-Pomegranate-625 posted of their apparent mic setup and the back of Rockstar North's HQ.
Now to the claim. Redditor Then-Pomegranate-625 says that, using their expertise, they set up an acoustic monitoring rig outside of Rockstar North HQ, with the microphones pointed towards Rockstar's meeting rooms. Their rationale? The louder it is, the closer we are to the release of GTA 6's third trailer.
They claim that a spike in volume at 11 am BST today must mean that Rockstar gathered employees together to show them the trailer, and the audio rig picked up the excitement.
Now I know for a fact that Rockstar keeps the release of its trailers under wraps, with few staff members knowing they are happening, so this apparent spike in noise isn't linked to that. But if this monitoring is to be believed, something happened at 11. Perhaps it was a staff member's birthday, or perhaps somebody knocked something off a shelf.
The most concerning thing here is that, while this is likely an attempt to trick excited GTA fans and there is no acoustic rig, there's a small possibility it could be real. There were also reports over the weekend that two YouTubers waltzed into the HQ looking for information before being ejected and detained (which I'm also looking into), and it feels like only a matter of time before somebody does something drastic.
Gamers, be normal about GTA 6. It will get here when it gets here.
