- How To Beat Giga Blade
One of the first boss fights you'll encounter in Alina Of The Arena is Giga Blade, the fighting pit's longtime champion. While he's arguably the simplest boss in the game, lacking any off-the-wall combos or surprise tricks, his brute strength still makes him a force to be reckoned with.

Giga Blade serves as a test for your build - if you can't get past him, then you probably wouldn't have survived the later arenas anyway. Luckily, you can always make your way back up the ladder with a different set of gear and try again! Read on to learn how to beat the towering champ.
Giga Blade's Pattern
Wielding his enormous greatsword, Giga Blade's attacks use the same shape as Alina's longswords; he strikes the three spaces directly in front of him. Early in the fight, your Guard cards can absorb most of this damage.
Each turn, Giga Blade will advance one space directly toward Alina and prepare an attack. Unless you're using bows, you'll have to get within range of his strikes in order to land hits yourself. Soak as much as you can with defensive cards while hitting Giga Blade as hard as you can to wear down his armor. Only when Giga Blade is stunned from an armor break will you be able to safely put damage on him without taking too much in return.
After making two attacks without having his armor broken, Giga Blade stops for a turn to catch his breath. Try to retain attack cards for this opportunity!
Each time Giga Blade recovers from a stun, he leaps to the center of the arena, knocking Alina away if she's on or adjacent to the center space. He then recovers his armor and gains a permanent strength buff. This means that Giga Blade's attack power will continue to grow throughout the fight until he can finish you off with one hit! You need to defeat him before that happens.

How To Beat Giga Blade
The best build for beating the big guy is a dagger and shield combination, even if they're poor-quality. The shield makes it much easier to weather Giga Blade's attacks, and the dagger will inflict Bleed, causing your subsequent attacks to deal more damage. This helps keep up with the boss's growth over the course of the fight.
Alternately, a hammer can be used in place of a dagger. This will slow your overall damage output, but if you get a bad hand you can use the hammer's Power Move to turn Giga Blade around and force him to attack empty spaces behind him. You'll only be able to use this trick twice at most, though!
Don't worry if Giga Blade knocks you into the wall - your movement cards probably won't be enough to get you out of his reach, so the penalty for hitting the wall doesn't matter much.
Breaking Giga Blade's armor is critical, since the faster you can stun him the fewer attacks he'll be able to make over the course of the fight. If you have any high-power cards that exhaust, save them for later in the fight when you'll need the numbers; this goes for both attack and defense!
After his first stun recovery, Giga Blade extends the range of his sword by one. This makes it nearly impossible to avoid his attacks. Instead, use any movement cards that you have to close the distance and keep pressure on the boss. Remember, you'll be fully healed after you win, so the only hit that you can't afford to take is the one that takes you to zero.
