Summary

  • Ubisoft has reportedly greenlit the next major Assassin's Creed instalment.
  • It is apparently going by the codename Assassin's Creed Scarlet.
  • It could be the rumoured Assassin's Creed game that takes place in India, the Aztec Empire, and the Mediterranean.

Assassin's Creed Shadows is proving to be the hit that Ubisoft desperately needed. After some widely reported financial woes, it appears that the studio can continue with its lengthy roadmap for the Assassin's Creed series, which we already know a bit about.

Now, Insider Gaming claims to have even more knowledge on these future Assassin's Creed titles, giving us a better idea of what we can expect in the coming years. This report includes the claim that the next big RPG after Shadows had already entered production, going by the codename Assassin's Creed Scarlet.

Assassin's Creed Scarlet Is The Next Big Assassin's Creed Game, It's Claimed

According to Insider Gaming's sources, Scarlet is the next big game after Shadows, but we're still in for quite a wait. Other games are ahead of it in the alleged roadmap, with spin-offs and smaller releases seemingly bridging the gap between the larger RPG follow-ups.

For instance, it's said that Shadows will receive two years of support before Ubisoft moves on to Assassin’s Creed Hexe, which is also a codename at this stage. Ubisoft has already confirmed Hexe's existence, with this latest report claiming that it will launch "after Shadow’s support ends". It is said that Ubisoft plans to support Hexe for a year, before then moving on to Scarlet.

As for what we'll get from Scarlet, it's hard to say. It's reported that it will be a large action RPG like Shadows, and it has apparently already been greenlit and entered production. Insider Gaming speculates that Scarlet is the long-rumoured Assassin's Creed Nebula title, which is said to take place in India, the Aztec Empire, and the Mediterranean.

However, before any of this, we have Assassin's Creed Jade. This is a mobile game that is set in China. It currently has no release date.
