Summary

  • This Baldur's Gate 3 mod expands on our ability to hug companions.
  • If certain conditions are met in the story, and you have enough approval, you can ask your party members for hugs whenever you want.

Baldur's Gate 3 is awfully good to its fans. Since launch, we've been able to kiss our love interests as many times as we want, and a further update even added unique kissing animations for every single one of them. However, one thing we're lacking is the ability to hug our companions on command.

A modder already came to the rescue, as we covered back in May. Hugs from Nexus Mods user Cerberry gave players an ability that, when used, triggers a hugging animation with most characters. Now, we have a similar mod that's specific to companions, which makes the hugs available in dialogue and even gives them unique reactions to being embraced.

Baldur's Gate 3 Mod Lets Us Ask Our Companions For Hugs

Hug Your Companions - In-Dialogue Hug Interactions was created by Nexus Mods user Magnetuning. It already has thousands of downloads, so there's an awful lot of us who want to be able to embrace the gang we meet on the road to Baldur's Gate.

With the mod installed, you should have the option to ask your companions for a hug when you speak to them, as long as you meet the right criteria. As per the mod's description, this is based on approval, but also hitting certain story moments. Your ability to hug a companion can also be taken away, depending on your choices.

Judging from the mod's description, you can lock yourself out of hugging Astarion if you made choices that didn't respect his boundaries, or if you encourage him to ascend. Which makes absolute sense in both cases. You also won't be able to hug Karlach until she's had her heart fixed since you'd be set on fire otherwise.

There's a version of the mod that doesn't test for approval if you just want to hug everyone right off the Nautiloid. Sure, it'll be a little out of character for many of them, but they could all do with a hug after what they went through. The looming threat of ceremorphosis is a bit of a bummer.
