"A Lot Of Insults And Threats": Beloved Baldur's Gate 3 Modder Won't Be Dealing With Console Players Anymore
Summary
- A prominent modder has said they won't be dealing with console players due to threats they've received on Mod.io.
- Caites was thanked by Larian in Patch 8's update notes.
- Larian Studios has included Caites in the credits for Baldur's Gate 3.
Baldur's Gate 3's eighth and final patch is finally upon us, adding photo mode, full crossplay and a new subclass for every existing class. Naturally, with any major game update, there will be compatibility issues with mods on a new patch. The solution? Wait for the modder to fix the mod in their free time.
Unfortunately, not everyone is patient and instead insists on anonymously making their feelings known. The prolific modder Caites, known for creating mods that improve and simplify Baldur's Gate 3's user interface, has been the target of such harassment.
Patience is a Virtue
In a Discord exchange posted on Reddit by NeverJoe_420, Caites explains they've been facing harassment from users on Mod.io: "A lot of threats and insults from console users on Mod.io," Caites writes. "Sorry if that brings inconveniences, but I decided I don't want to deal with Mod.io beyond what is necessary to not create more problems for Larian."
Mod.io is the official modding platform for Baldur's Gate 3. It's primarily used by console players, as they don't have access to Nexus Mods and other similar platforms.
Caites is so prolific in the modding community that they've been included in Baldur's Gate 3's credits for their work in helping Larian test out the game's modding toolkit.
Larian thanks Caites in the notes of the new patch, which read "Thank you Djmr for their incredible on this mod and for keeping in contact with us while we resolved the conflicts and introduced this functionality, as well as Caites, both who have been particularly helpful, and whose names now lie firmly in the Baldur's Gate 3 game credits, along with the mod authors who have been helping us test Toolkit functionality."
Caites has written 24 mods for Baldur's Gate 3, mostly focused on user interface. Better Containers, Better Maps All-In-One, and Better Hotbar 2 are their most popular mods.

Also, complaining about a mod not being updated one day after a patch release is egregiously entitled behaviour.
