Summary

  • A Reddit user aged up Shadowheart, Gale, Karlach, and others in the character creator.
  • This made fans happy as they could imagine them leading fulfilling lives.
  • Wulbren didn't make it.

Have you wondered what happened to our beloved Baldur's Gate 3 friends after the events of the game? I don't mean the epilogue, which is set a bit after the Netherbrain is defeated; I mean far into the future. Did Karlach ever fix her heart? Did Shadowheart lead a fulfilling life? Did Wyll ever get over his daddy issues? Or did Gale stop eating magic boots?

We'll never truly know these answers, because Larian has officially moved on from the game and we're not getting any DLC. However, we can imagine that everyone lived happily ever after to their old age. If you need a bit of help with imagining that, one player used the Baldur's Gate 3 character creator to age up the companions.

And They Lived Happily Ever After, Except Wulbren

One Reddit user shared older versions of Shadowheart, Gale, Karlach, Astarion, Wyll, and a few others. All of them look great and happy, like they lived the lives they wanted to, and that gave fans a feel-good moment. Of course, they did Gortash dirty, by making him bald and giving him scruffy facial hair, But it's better than Wulbren, who didn't even make it to old age.

While most of them simply have white hair and a few extra wrinkles, Astarion is blind for some reason, Gale is growing a proper wizard beard and smokes a pipe, Wyll has braids in his hair and beard, Halsin is a silver fox (bear), Minsc has lost an eye, and Barcus has a badass beard.

"They look old and happy," said one comment. "Adventurers who've lived a full life, and it makes me so happy!" Another said, "I love this so much! Seeing Karlach live to an old age makes me happy. They all deserve to get old together."

"Gale is absolutely going to grow a big crazy wizard beard. I want him showing up in BG4 looking like a hotter Gandalf," mentioned another, "Can I also just say that seeing old Karlach is so sweet? I want our girl to get the chance to grow old and have a good life."

This is how we all would like to imagine our dear companions growing old. And now, with patch 8, we can take photos of the memories we made together.
