First-person titles stand out for immersing you in the action as your view of enemies and surroundings is often well-detailed and highly realistic. Open-world games allow you to take on main and side missions in a mammoth map that you can freely roam or unlock as you progress through the story.

There aren't many FPS open-world titles where you can parkour around a zombie-infested city, hence why Dying Light is remembered for being a unique game. Beyond the ability to scale walls and buildings at night or day, the game stands out for its well-detailed environment, which you get to appreciate even more from a first-person perspective.

You get to explore a mammoth map filled with zombies, courier missions, herbs to harvest, and tons of consumables to loot. Guns or bullets aren't as frequent as the zombies you encounter, so you have to plan every attack. Fortunately, safe zones are scattered across the map, so you can always find the nearest one and hide there when zombies are in hot pursuit.

If you've always been a Far Cry enthusiast, then you should know that Far Cry 5 gets a lot of things right, especially with its open world design. Typical of a Far Cry game, you get to make your way across a giant map that's an excellent replica of rural America. You get to conquer tough terrain like mountains and take on the enemy bases that swarm the area.

Liberating the bases offers amazing rewards, though you need to be aware of sudden wild animal appearances. Exploring Far Cry 5’s map is a richly satisfying thing to do, especially when doing so in first person.

Although Metro Exodus doesn't exactly offer the traditional open world feeling where you can travel freely from one section to another, it still does a fabulous job with the three areas you get to visit throughout your gameplay. There's no better way to play this game than in FPS mode, as its forests, flooded surfaces, and arid lands look more life-like when viewed from an up-close perspective.

Since its release in 2023, Starfield has remained a popular choice for space exploration fans to play. Although it's still plagued by the usual loading screens that limit its open-world feel, combat in Starfield is a joy to witness as it looks and feels realistic.

What's more, shooting is incredibly enjoyable in this game as you can opt for long-range or short-range offense. Aside from visiting planets littered across the galaxies, you also get to blow up enemy spacecraft from your ship. It's not the best Bethesda game in recent years, but it outclasses many games in terms of world-building and FPS combat.

Many RPGS based in the medieval era have been released, but not many can match the thrill of playing Kingdom Come: Deliverance. Known for its memorable opening, where you start with a low-skilled character who's easily beaten up by rivals.

As you progress through the storyline, you level up and become an unstoppable warrior. The game does a fantastic job of recreating the sights of a medieval world that you can travel across. Combat can be clunky at times, but it still feels satisfying to slay enemies.

Fallout 4 is what happens when a sole survivor searches for his kidnapped son in a harsh and unforgiving wasteland. This is an all-time favorite for its expansive map, which is filled with lore secrets, enemy hideouts, and hidden rewards.

The fact that you can travel the wasteland with different companions makes the journey feel less boring. Although you can switch from third person to first person, you will most likely enjoy playing with a more intimate view. If you're looking to increase your playthrough, you can also check out some quest mods. Fallout 4 ranks among the PC games with an overly active modding community.

It's hard to find an open-world enthusiast who hasn't played this game. If you've previously played GTA 5 in third-person mode, expect a largely different experience when playing in first-person. This perspective enhances your immersion while robbing a jewelry store or piloting a helicopter that's hauling a container bearing a dangerous toxin.

GTA 5’s open world is still alluring due to the density of side activities such as boat and motocross races. It's also a great game to unwind with after a stressful day, as you can set a custom route and drive from Los Santos into rural Sandy Shores and back.
