Summary

  • Bloodborne is officially undergoing maintenance on December 3, the same date as a rumored PlayStation event.
  • PlayStation fans believe the date (which also happens to be the platform's 30th anniversary) was hidden in a new advert that came out earlier this week.
  • Bloodborne fans now have their fingers crossed this could be the remaster or 60fps update they've been craving, though we won't know for sure until the day arrives.

Update: 28/11/2024 03:01AM GMT - Indus try insider Jeff Grubb, who has been correct about several PlayStation announcements in the past, has claimed that Bloodborne's server maintenance is "nothing". Original story follows.

PlayStation fans have been a bit antsy over the past couple of weeks, ever since a new advert was uploaded to the platform's official YouTube channel. In this advert, a flight board can be seen very briefly that displays the date December 3, which just so happens to be the 30th anniversary of PlayStation as a whole. A lot of fans have taken this as a tease for some kind of event or PlayStation Showcase taking place next month.

Insiders have been disputing whether an event may happen, pointing to things like The Game Awards being deeper into December this year, and reliable characters like billbil-kun claiming that things are "being prepared" behind the scenes. There's a lot of uncertainty swirling around at the moment, though one thing that is certain is that Bloodborne is going down for maintenance on the exact same day.

Bloodborne To Undergo Maintenance On Rumored PlayStation Showcase Date

It was recently discovered by Bloodborne fans (and shared by Twitter account FromSoftUpdates) that the game's servers will undergo maintenance on December 3. It's worth pointing out that FromSoftware games randomly undergoing maintenance isn't unheard of, but to line up perfectly on the same day that PlayStation may be teasing is almost too much of a coincidence.

A lot of people are already taking this as proof that we might finally be getting our remaster or remake announcement during this mystery event, though we have absolutely no idea if this is the case. It's also possible that this may be FromSoftware preparing for some kind of PS5 Pro enhancement, and it could also be absolutely nothing and make Bloodborne fans want to go curl up in the corner of a room and cry.

Whatever this mystery maintenance ends up being, I'm sure we all have our fingers crossed that Bloodborne fans will finally get some good news for once. The one-two punch of Horizon Zero Dawn getting a remaster and rumors of a Dark Souls 3 remaster in the works may have broken some fans beyond all help. Right now, we just need to stay calm and pray.
