Call Of Duty: Black Ops 1 And 2's Ports Make You Pay For The DLC Again
The long-awaited ports for Call of Duty: Black Ops 1 and 2 released on PS5 earlier this week, and to say that they haven't gone down too well would be a bit of an understatement.
Last month, a recent update to the Xbox store suggested that the ports of both games could cost you a whopping $80 combined, which isn't great considering they're games that are well over a decade old at this point. Sure enough, it's been revealed that this price is accurate, with Black Ops 1 and 2 both costing $40 each.
Call Of Duty: Black Ops 1 And 2 Are Making You Buy The DLC Again
However, that's not the biggest problem that people have with these ports. Unlike most other ports of very old games, Black Ops 1 and 2 don't have the original DLC included, meaning you'll have to buy them again if you want all the DLC maps that were added after the game's launch way back when.
The Season Passes for both include each of the game's DLC maps and cost a pretty substantial $30 if you miss the offer for PlayStation Plus members. If you don't buy the Season Pass, these maps will be inaccessible, and you won't be able to play on those maps with people that do have them. It's incredibly archaic and a pretty wretched cash grab.
Worse still, if you happened to buy the Season Pass for the maps back when the game was still new all those years ago, you still have to purchase the Season Pass again, essentially forcing you to buy DLC for a game twice.
It's especially galling when you realize that all of this combined will set you back $140 for two games that are nearly 15 years old. It's not great, and a prime example of why PlayStation ditching physical media is still an incredibly anti-consumer move. If you want to play Black Ops, you're probably better off getting an Xbox and buying an Xbox 360 copy for £3 online.
