Summary

  • Black Ops 6 is bringing back one of Call of Duty's most notorious perks, Last Stand.
  • Except in Black Ops 6, Last Stand won't be a perk, and instead it will be a piece of Field Equipment.
  • It'll still function the same way as Last Stand, and the item description even references the perk.
  • That said, it won't be super easy to get, as per the Call of Duty blog, it'll require a large player level to unlock.

By this time next week, we'll all be playing Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Activision's latest offering in the long-running first-person shooter franchise. In typical Black Ops fashion, the game will offer a campaign, which is expected to be lengthy, along with multiplayer, as well as the signature Zombies mode.

In the leadup to Black Ops 6's official launch, including day-and-date on Microsoft's Game Pass, the team at Treyarch has revealed a wealth of multiplayer details. Friday's news dump included info on the weapons, perks, scorestreaks and equipment that will be part of the suite.

Most notably, Last Stand is back in a COD game. Or at least a version of it.

Surely, Last Stand Won't Be Abused

To start, Last Stand as we know it won't be in Black Ops 6. In other words, there isn't an official "Last Stand" perk available. Instead, a version of Last Stand has been made into equipment called "Morphine Injector."

Per the equipment's description: For a duration, fatal damage puts you into a Last Stand state. Teammates can revive you or get a kill to self-revive.

"Morphine Injector" is one of 11 Field Upgrades, or equipment, that a player can bring with them into a match. Other options include tac inserts, traps and scramblers, among other options.

As longtime COD fans might remember, Last Stand was a notorious perk as it allowed a player to essentially skirt death, provided they could get a kill. As notorious as it was, it was a staple of several COD titles, though it had quietly gone away as of late. Now, it's back in all of its glory.

That said, "Morphine Injector" won't be incredibly easy to get. Per the Call of Duty blog, it's unlocked at Player Level 44, meaning you'll have to grind to get it. Still, it won't be too long before one of COD's most iconic perks is back in full force, just this time as equipment.
