Call of Duty: Black Ops 6's Zombies has borrowed some elements from Cold War through itemization and loot design. Items have various rarities and upgrade paths you can undergo, and that extends to dropped items as well.

Posts 2 By Charles BurgarOne of the rarer items you'll find from tougher zombies is loot keys, consumable items that can unlock valuable loot caches in certain regions of the map. Get a rare key, make your way to a certain area on the map, and then unlock a container to get your hands on some powerful weapons, free perks, or game-changing consumables. But first, let's go over how loot keys work in Black Ops 6 and where you can find them.
What Are Loot Keys?
Loot keys are a one-time-use consumable item that drops from special and elite-tier zombies. These keys can be used to unlock certain loot caches in the map, awarding you with high-rarity weapons, perks, and killstreaks. You may only hold one key at a time, so make sure to use it.
As with weapon tiers, loot keys come in multiple rarities. Each rarity influences the quality of rewards you'll receive from the loot cache.
- Uncommon (Green): Drops green-tier weapons and armor.
- Rare (Blue): Drops blue-tier weapons. Low chance for perks and killstreaks.
- Epic (Purple): Drops purple-tier weapons with a small chance of yellow-tier items.
- Legendary (Yellow): High chance for yellow-tier weapons and killstreaks.
How To Get Loot Keys
Loot keys are a rare drop from special and elite zombies. These include Manglers, Abominations, and Amalgams. More difficult enemies seem to have a higher chance of dropping a loot key, although we can't confirm this for certain.
Your current round seems to influence the rarity of the key you receive—higher rounds bias loot keys toward Epic and Legendary rarities. It's possible to find a yellow-tier key at the start of the game, but it becomes increasingly more common as the game progresses.
Using Loot Keys
Redeeming a loot key is fairly straightforward. A key can be used to unlock a loot cache somewhere on the map, usually in an isolated loot instance like a vault or armory. Each map has different areas where you can redeem your loot keys, so let's go over them.
Liberty Falls
There are technically two types of loot keys you can find in Liberty Falls:
- Toolshed Key: Used to open the toolshed in the driveway on the same street as the Pack-A-Punch church.
- There's no prompt for opening this door. Inside is a Jet Gun part.
- Loot Key: Used to open locked containers in the bank's central vault.
A bank can be found near the middle of Liberty Falls, a short distance from the bowling alley. You'll need to unlock the vault inside that bank to redeem your key. We cover how to open the vault in our Liberty Falls vault guide. Once inside, open any of the containers to claim your rewards.
Terminus
Terminus has a much more streamlined process for redeeming loot keys. After you get a key, travel to the armor and open any locker. You'll find the armory a short distance from spawn. Travel to the first power generator, walk outside, then enter the building next to the Gobblegum confectionery machine. The armory is down the stairs to your left.
