There are so many features and systems in Crimson Desert, that I wouldn't blame you for ignoring some of them or even forgetting they exist. In fact, that's exactly how I felt when I came back to the game after two weeks. The trading system, building, and banking are among the many features players have barely interacted with.

Among these many features is Crimson Desert's disguise system. As you'd expect, wearing certain pieces of gear allows Kliff to walk through enemy strongholds without getting attacked; or so you'd think. According to multiple players, the system is a bit confusing, resulting in enemies attacking Kliff despite him wearing a disguise.

Kliff? Never Heard Of Him

The way the game's disguise system works isn't really explained well. There's a part in the story where you're given a disguise that supposedly allows you to walk through occupied Pailune. However, it seems I'm not the only one that put on the headdress and stepped out to have the entire settlement descend upon me.

Over on Reddit, players have multiple theories for how disguises work. You need to put on multiple pieces of the disguise, each of which improves your detection stats. At least that's what most players think.

"First of all, you need the full set of the disguise for the effect to be applied. Some have 2, others 3 (maybe more?) pieces. It needs to be the full set," explained one comment. "Then, it doesn't make you invisible to enemies or creatures, it just significantly shrinks the (invisible) detection/aggro radius they have with regard to you. If you combine disguise + darkness (night) + sneaking + hiding spots, you can 'infiltrate' enemy camps rather well."

However, despite the Pailune and monastery quests, most agree that it's quite pointless, as you're tasked with killing everyone anyway. Most of the time, finding all the pieces of the disguise is tedious and more time consuming than barging in sword-in-hand.

This isn't the only confusing feature in Crimson Desert. The game never properly explained its double jump system, which is more akin to a ground bounce. A translation error led to many players struggling to pull it off.
