Croc's Remaster Is Getting A Physical Release And A Collector's Editon
Summary
- The devs behind the Croc: Legend Of The Gobbos remaster have confirmed a December release window.
- They're also revealed a physical release and collector's edition and pre-orders for both are available now.
- Despite a confirmed release window, the studio has warned the remaster might get pushed by a few weeks if it isn't quite ready.
Crash Bandicoot's original trilogy was remastered in 2017, Spyro followed shortly after, but there's still someone missing, and no, I'm not talking about Banjo-Kazooie. I'm talking about Croc, and while we know a Legend Of The Gobbos remaster is coming, we didn't know when exactly. Now we do - kind of - and we also know that it will be getting a physical release as well as a $130 collector's edition.
Argonaut Games, the studio behind the original Croc, revealed earlier this year that it had risen from the ashes and was working on a remaster of the PlayStation platformer. It hinted at the time that it was aiming to release the remaster before the end of 2024. Argonaut's Jez San told Nintendo Life it's still on track to be here by December, but the studio isn't afraid to push the launch into 2025 if needed.
We are speed-running towards a December 2024 release and are very close to being complete. However, if we need to add a little more polish, we won’t hesitate to do so. After waiting 27 years, we trust that our dedicated fans can wait a few weeks longer.
Alongside the reveal that Croc is currently on track to be back by December, Argonaut confirmed that its remastered platformer will be getting a physical release as well as a collector's edition. The studio is working with Rock It Games on Croc's physical launch, the standard edition coming to PS5 and Nintendo Switch for $39.99. The digital edition of the game will cost $29.99.
Pre-orders for physical copies of Croc: Legends Of The Gobbos are now open and will remain open until December 10, 2024. The same applies to the collector's edition. Joining your physical copy of the remaster in the collector's edition is an eight-inch resin statue of the game's hero with a Gobbo at his feet, a four-disc soundtrack, a Croc keychain, a sticker sheet, and a poster.

If Argonaut can have Croc ready by the end of the year, it will launch during an uncharacteristically busy December for video games alongside Indiana Jones And The Great Circle, Marvel Rivals, and Power Rangers: Rita's Rewind. If a delay is needed, January would be a good landing spot. It's currently pretty empty while February 2025 is already loaded with several triple-A launches.
