Summary

  • Dynasty Warriors: Origins received a brand-new trailer, plus an official release date during Tuesday's State of Play.
  • As announced during the presentation, the game will be coming to PS5 in early January 2025.
  • The trailer showed some of the game's combat and presentation elements in great detail, as well as the "Nameless Hero" that players will step into the role of.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins received a snazzy new trailer during Tuesday's long-awaited PlayStation State of Play. The game, which had originally been unveiled in May, got a near two-minute trailer, where more of the game's elements were showcased, as well as the game's release date.

In that trailer, more of the game's massive battles were demonstrated, showing just how much the game will benefit via current-gen hardware. Additionally, the game also further showcased the "Nameless Hero" that gamers will be controlling in 2025.

A particular highlight from the trailer is just how massive the battles will be. It's no secret that Dynasty Warriors is known for its large-scale battles with tons of foes on screen, but the trailer reiterated just how big things will be on this batch of hardware. In one sequence, dozens of enemies were pushed back with a swing of the sword, only for the protagonist to land in an area with even more foes. It's also an incredible looking game so far, if we might add.

2025 Is Looking Stacked For Video Games

As for the release date, it won't be too long before gamers can play the next game in the long-running franchise. The end of the trailer revealed a January 17, 2025, release, which isn't that long from now. Previously, it had been given a wide 2025 window.

Perhaps the most interesting thing about Origins is the fact that the player-controlled character isn't rooted in real-life history. In other words, the chaos of the Three Kingdoms will be played from an entirely new perspective.

With a January release confirmed, it'll be another strong entry in what is shaping up to be an all-time year for video games. Already, the likes of Grand Theft Auto 6 and Monster Hunter Wilds have been given 2025 release dates, and Dynasty Warriors: Origins fits right in with those massive titles.

Speaking of massive titles, Origins was not the only thing of note revealed during Tuesday's State of Play presentation. Astro Bot DLC was also revealed, as well as a shadow drop of Palworld. Elsewhere, Monster Hunter Wilds also received its 2025 release date, making it a solid presentation from a third-party perspective especially.
