Destiny 2's Buggy Gun Has Achieved Sentience, Ushers In The "Age Of Telesto"
It’s much worse than we’d feared. Telesto has gone from being just the buggiest Exotic in Destiny 2 to being an actual destructive force that is threatening to leave Bungie’s servers. It has, as some have suggested, achieved sentience. It started with Bungie’s official Twitter account, where Telesto announced its ascension "beyond the need for a wielder." It then said it was "beyond Destiny, beyond Bungie, beyond all you can conceive." That's when it started taking over various Destiny 2 apps, including Destiny Item Manager (where every weapon turned into Telesto), Trials Report (where every statistic was Telesto), and Time Wasted On Destiny (which gained a Telesto background). Also, every Destiny 2 bot on Twitch stopped functioning and only retrieved information on Telesto whenever a request was made. A fix was issued yesterday that seems to have done nothing but make Telesto angrier."Now, let my true strength empower all who would wield my form," wrote Telesto. "Let the age of Telesto begin! It was believed yesterday that Telesto would be part of a Destiny-wide community puzzle. It has been known for some time that an end-of-season quest will be available where Guardians help the Eliksni rebuild their town, but it was unknown what would trigger this community quest. Then, a hotfix on Tuesday caused Telesto to start smoking and fire strange, rising purple bolts that seemed to form constellations in the sky.Today, Telesto now has improved lethality with its regular purple bolts exploding into bouncing Void grenades. This is an entirely undocumented upgrade that Telesto fans will undoubtedly love, but at what cost?
Telesto has a deserved reputation for being the buggiest gun in Destiny 2, with an entire website dedicated to documenting its game-ending glitches and the number of days it’s been since Telesto has broken the game. That number has once again been reset, and now also has the ominous message of "it has begun."
