Mission Dossier: Witch’s Gambit is one of the Vengeance Quests that you can complete in Destiny 2. You must complete the first few steps of Act III: Crossed Blades to access this quest at the Shaping Slab. The mission requires completing a series of objectives in The Nether. Since most of these must be completed at your own pace, we recommend running Nether: Private. This will prevent random teammates from pushing forward while you are working on an objective.

In this guide, we will cover everything you need to know about the Witch’s Gambit quest — including its requirements and the most efficient ways of completing them in Destiny 2: Heresy.

How To Complete The Mission Dossier: Witch’s Gambit Quest

In order to unlock Mission Dossier: Witch’s Gambit, you must first progress through the initial steps of Act Three: Crossed Blades. Head to The Last City and interact with the Shaping Slab in Eris’ Flat to receive the quest.

Before leaving the area, make sure you are on the Path of Resolve. To do this, interact with the Taken Orb near the Shaping Slab.

Witch’s Gambit requires completing these objectives:

  1. Discover three Secrets.
  2. Complete different Encounters.
  3. Defeat 100 enemies while under the effect of a Corrupted Boon.

Dreadnaught Secrets

The Dreadnaught holds multiple secrets you can discover. To complete this objective, you must uncover three of them.

We recommend running the Exploration: Private mode. It has no matchmaking, giving you ample time to discover these secrets at your own pace.

Since discovering multiple secrets in a single run can be time-consuming, we recommend loading in, completing one secret, then restarting. The following is a quick rundown of all the secrets:

Secret

Where to Find

How to Complete

Toland

Anywhere

You will need to locate Toland, follow it around the Dreadnaught, and open the chest where it eventually stops.

Vorok, Excise Eternal

Trenchway, Hall of Souls, Mausoleum

You will see three braziers in various locations. Simply light them to summon Vorok, Excise Eternal – a yellow-bar Hive Knight. Defeat him to complete the secret. He does not have much HP, and can also be disoriented, making it incredibly easy to deal with him.

Taken Blights

Anywhere

There are three Taken Blights in Mausoleum – in the boss arena. Shoot these Taken Blights to spawn a chest, which will complete a secret. Remember that these Taken Blights are much smaller than the ones in Public Events.

Rites of the Deep Tithing

Trenchway

In the Trenchway, offer Rites of the Deep Tithe at the altar. If it is lacking, ask a friend who has it to help you out. All you need to do is to enter the portal and loot the chest.

Heretical Altar

Mausoleum

While in the Mausoleum, destroy a Shrieker in front of a Taken Portal. Enter it to reach the Heretical Altar. Open one of several chests to complete a secret. Opening a chest will kill you, but it is intended.

The Ravenous

Hall of Souls

In the Hall of Souls, locate a yellow-bar Thrall named The Ravenous. You need to have him follow you into the adjacent room where it will begin devouring some worms on the ground. Once it grows into an Acolyte, break your line-of-sight, and follow it to its next location. After it transforms into a Hive Knight, kill it, and loot the chest to complete another secret.

The fastest method to complete this step is to complete the Toland secret, relaunch the activity, and repeat until you have finished all three secrets.

Complete Encounters

Next, complete encounters in The Nether until you reach 100 percent progress. Summon your Ghost, follow the white marker, and continue running the encounters.

If you do not wish to engage bosses, restart after every two waves. However, we do recommend completing the boss rounds, as they provide the most progress.

Kills With A Corrupted Boon

The last step is to defeat 100 enemies in The Nether while you are under the effects of a Corrupted Boon. Corrupted Boons only appear after the completion of an encounter. As the name suggests, these Boons have an upside and a downside. For instance, Sharpshooter’s Burden is a Corrupted Boon which says:

Upside

Downside

It increases all Precision Damage.

You take increased damage from all the sources.

It is advised to choose a Corrupted Boon as early as possible. Doing so will help you stack up 100 kills while working on other objectives.

Once you have completed all the steps, return to the Shaping Slab in Eris’ Apartment to get Seasonal Gear, some Sigil Shards, and a few Essence of Desire.
