Sparking Zero Beats Street Fighter 6 And Tekken 8 As Steam's Most-Played Fighting Game
According to SteamDB, Thursday night in the US saw a whopping 91,005 players jump into Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero on Steam, a phenomenal effort for a game that has yet to fully launch.
This number has seen the game eclipse the previous record for the most concurrent players in a fighting game on Steam, which was set by Street Fighter 6 in June last year. At the time, Street Fighter managed 70,540 players, meaning Sparking Zero has achieved an almost 30 percent increase.
Comparatively, at their peaks, Tekken 8 had 46,139 players on Steam, and the most popular Mortal Kombat game, Mortal Kombat 11, had 27,301. Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection, which released last month, peaked at just over 2,000 players.
Sparking Zero's 91,000 players also easily makes it the most-played Dragon Ball game on the Valve-owned platform. Previously, FighterZ held the record with 44,234 players, with Kakarot and Xenoverse 2 getting 25,715 and 13,570 players, respectively. The original Xenoverse garnered a peak of 22,782 concurrent users.
With the cheaper Standard Edition set for release on Friday, it will be interesting to see just how high this number eventually goes. Let's just hope those players have a bit of an easier time with the game.
