Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero Upgrades Chi-Chi's Commentary From Budokai Tenkaichi 3
Summary
- As if Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero wasn't already a game for ages, it's been revealed that the classic encyclopedia from Budokai Tenkaichi 3 will be returning.
- The encyclopedia will be narrated by not only Chi Chi, but Bulma and Videl, too.
- It's another highlight of what has been numerous fan-centric announcements, including Dragon Ball GT inclusion, as well as "What If" story battles.
If Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero wasn't shaping up to be the ultimate Dragon Ball game after all of its character announcements, including Super Saiyan 4, or its expansive story mode, including "What If" scenarios, then the returning encyclopedia certainly does.

I didn’t think Sparking Zero could get more exciting, but the addition of GT and Movie characters has done it.
Posts 1 By George FosterAs exclusively first revealed by IGN, the classic encyclopedia that was a memorable part of Budokai Tenkaichi 3 will be returning in Sparking Zero.
Chi Chi Has Friends In This Encyclopedia
What's more, it won't just be Chi Chi providing commentary on all the ins and outs of the world of Dragon Ball Z. No. Instead, she'll be joined by Bulma, as well as Videl, helping round out the three women married to Saiyans (Goku, Vegeta and Gohan).
Here's what it looks like in action, courtesy of a Dragon Ball fan account:
And it's not just info you'll be getting from the trio, as they will absolutely be roasting the game's massive roster of characters. The snippet shows some shade thrown at Garlic Jr., along with Goku's Super Saiyan 3 form.
Don't worry though, as they'll dish out compliments when warranted. For now, it looks like Goku's Ultra Instinct look is a win in Bumla's eyes.
It's just another move in a long line of multiple that have made Sparking Zero a can't-miss game for Dragon Ball fans. The spiritual successor to the Budokai Tenkaichi series will also have a couch co-op mode, though it'll have a few caveats. More so, beyond including characters from Z and Super, Dragon Ball GT, the various Dragon Ball movies and the original DB will all see representation.
Plus, Daima Goku headlines the preorder bonus, helping round out the game's roster as a giant celebration of the late Akira Toriyama's legendary work.
Elsewhere, fans can create custom battles, complete with unique dialogue options, as well as a training mode led by everyone's favorite part-time father, Piccolo. The addition of the encyclopedia is just another cherry on what has been a dream sundae.
