Dragon's Dogma 2 has had its fair share of controversies over the years, ranging from its implementation of microtransactions, to Dragonsplague, to the fanbase feeling abandoned by Capcom. It used to drama, but the prayers of Dragon's Dogma fans were answered earlier this year when the Dark Arisen DLC was announced.

During that same time, Capcom released and announced some updates tackling some of the biggest problems that the game has been suffering ever since it first launched and support pretty much stopped. Microtransactions were removed entirely, a cure for Dragonsplague is on the way, and what spurred on this sudden increase of support? A part of it seemed to be guilt.

Dragon's Dogma 2 Dark Arisen Is Designed To "Win Back" Fans

"We are trying our best to win back trust from those players who felt [disappointed] in with the launch of Dragon's Dogma 2," says producer Naoto Oyama in an interview with Eurogamer.

"We've already seen positive responses to the title update that was just released in June with a variety of improvements and feature additions. Although, at the same time, some players are still cautious, and they're saying, 'well, this performance update in August is going to be the real test of whether the game has got to where we want it to be'."

Oyama and Capcom are definitely on the way to doing that with these changes, though to be honest, I'm sure Dragon's Dogma fans are just happy that their game is still being supported. Hopefully, the Dark Arisen expansion delvers on all these lofty promises and ends up being a pretty stellar addition to an already great game.
