Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time - Complete Guide To Lives

Here's everything you need to know about Lives in Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time, including which ones are best for beginners.

Here are some things which you can do to keep those hours of gameplay going. Some are obvious; others, less so. All are worth the journey it takes to complete them, and we recommend 'em all.

Master Every Life

Let's knock the clearest-cut idea out of the way right off the bat. In Fantasy Life i, a major part of the experience is found through the full mastery of every Life.

Throughout the main quest, you will need to rely upon more than just your Combat Life. At times, players are expected to tap into other areas, as well. But you'll never need to completely master anything - not really.

The thing about Fantasy Life games is that they manage to make grinding plenty of fun, at least for many of us. You can easily find yourself spending dozens upon dozens of hours mastering Lives, and the game's vast world is crafted so that there is always something to do in every regard.

Whether it's through fighting foes, gathering from the various nodes, or crafting with everything you acquire during your sojourns through dangerous and domestic territories alike, there's just so much game in this game.

Shatter Seals

There's an entire mechanic, namely Dark Seals, that isn't available until postgame. Throughout the story - and while exploring at-large - you will doubtless have encountered seals with purple glyphs. They've been blocking access deeper into dungeons, primarily.

You can't unseal these until postgame. You simply cannot do so; you'll lack the necessary materials until after beating the final boss. Chat with Trip afterward, and then head to Edward. He'll give your first Slate - more on these in a bit.

For now, what matters is that this will allow you to obtain Dark Fire from Fort Gardhart, which you entered in the main story. Here, you will find Shadow-type monsters, each of which will often drop the material.

Different Dark Seals will require separate amounts of Dark Fire, and there are 50 Seals in all, so it's a grind - but it's worth it.

Plenty of goodies await behind the Seals!

Slates

We've already mentioned that you can get your first Slate from Edward after finishing the game. (Just remember to talk to Trip first, as that'll kickstart it - we think, at least.)

Further Slates await! Shadow monsters can also drop Slates, These are all linked to powerful crafting recipes; just speak with Edward again after finding one or more, and they'll be unlocked.

Critically, some of these newfound recipes can be used when speaking with the Plundering Panther. Since the recipes can include the vaunted Legendary Recipes, and the Plundering Panther can upgrade those results even further, you're slated (pun sadly intended) for greater and greater heights.

Treasure Groves

Arguably one of the coolest features in Fantasy Life i is the Treasure Grove. Upon completion of Chapter 4 in the main story, you'll be able to plant saplings which then sprout into dungeons. They're randomized, and you enter the sprouted trees to engage with them.

They get progressively harder. The deepest depths within Treasure Groves are going to truly test your mettle, and should be reserved until you're super-powerful - namely, the postgame sprawl.

These are all multiplayer-friendly, too, so if you've got some buddies with a lower-case 'l', they'll come in handy big-time here.

Unlock Yuelia

Remember Yuelia, from the original Fantasy Life? If so, great news: she's recruitable. If not, well, suffice it to say, she's an important part of the prior Fantasy Life titles. Either way, you can only get her as a Buddy in the postgame.

To do so, you'll need 50 Golden Celestia's Gift. This is easier than it might sound. You can start acquiring Golden Celestia's Gifts by raising your Island Rank to five stars. The only caveat is that, indeed, they won't spawn until you've beaten the main story.

They also tend to spawn in lowish quantities, but it won't take terribly long before you've got all 50. Speak with Flutter, who will finish the job for you (in rather exciting fashion). Yuelia is a Magician Buddy, and she'll increase item drop rates by ten percent once her Affinity is filled!
