It Looks Like We're Never Getting FF14 Mobile, As Its Official Site Has Been Abandoned
I don't blame you for not remembering, but all the way back in 2024, Final Fantasy 14 Mobile was being rolled out in China. Later that year, it was announced to the Final Fantasy 14 community at large, and director Naoki Yoshida billed it as a new way to experience the story and a "sister title" to the main Final Fantasy 14 that would be developed independently.
Bold promises were flung around regarding content updates, and for a while, the game was getting new additions like hairstyles and mounts that, admittedly, made my regular FF14 playing self a little jealous. However, fast-forward a little over a year after the game's proper release in China, and it seems like Square Enix may have abandoned the title entirely.
Final Fantasy 14 Mobile Seems To Have Been Abandoned
It's been reported a few times since it's official release in China that Final Fantasy 14 Mobile hasn't been doing too well. Not only was it packed with predatory monetization methods, but it was also reportedly unsuccessful in trying to part players with their cash. It's last major update was last November, and it's been radio silence ever since.

Posts By Sam WoodsIt's been seemingly increasingly unlikely that Final Fantasy 14 Mobile will be getting a worldwide rollout, and a new discovery has pretty much confirmed that the game has been left for dead by Square Enix. Spotted and shared by a Reddit user called Aqualenne, it appears as though the official mobile site for the game has been down for over a week. Clicking the link just takes you to an error page.
With no updates in sight, disappointing revenue, and a mobile site that's been down for weeks, Final Fantasy 14 Mobile is practically dead at this point. We'll most likely see unique items and hairstyles make their way to the main game over the next year or so, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was quietly shut down without an announcement. It was an interesting experiment, but one that seems to have failed.
