Posts By Saad Bin AsifThis item can be both discovered and purchased in various locations across the map. Its blend of slashing attacks and movement options makes it a versatile tool for close-range combat. This guide will walk you through where to find it and how to use it effectively. Let's dive in.
How To Find A Chainsaw
You can stumble upon the Chainsaw as floor loot or tucked away inside chests while exploring the map.
However, for a guaranteed way to get your hands on one, it can be purchased for 300 Gold Bars from two specific NPCs. Dark Ruby offers it at Rebel’s Roost, while Andy Fangerson has it available at Grim Gate.
If you’re looking to incorporate this weapon into your loadout early, it’s worth planning a visit to these locations.
How To Use A Chainsaw
The Chainsaw functions as a melee weapon with four distinct abilities: Slash, Ground Pound, Sprint Slash, and Rush Attack. Each of these attacks adds unique utility to the weapon, making it effective in different combat scenarios.
Ability
Description
Slash
Press the fire button to perform a basic attack.
Holding the fire button unleashes a four-hit combo, with each strike dealing 75 damage while slightly propelling you forward, helping you maintain pressure on enemies.
Sprint Slash
If you sprint while pressing the fire button, the Chainsaw executes a Sprint Slash that deals 85 damage, offering a small damage boost over the regular slash.
This attack is ideal for quickly engaging enemies or finishing off those trying to escape.
Ground Pound
When used mid-air, the fire button triggers a Ground Pound.
On impact, it deals 85 damage to all enemies within a three-meter radius, making it a great option for disrupting groups or breaking through structures from above.
Rush Attack
Hold the aim button to thrust the Chainsaw into the ground and launch yourself forward.
This Rush Attack lasts ten seconds. Fuel begins regenerating five seconds after depletion and fully refills in another five seconds. This ability makes the Chainsaw versatile for both offensive bursts and rapid repositioning.
Tips To Use The Chainsaw Effectively
The Chainsaw is more than just a melee weapon — it’s a tool for aggressive plays, clever escapes, and quick map navigation. Whether you prefer relentless offense or strategic mobility, you'll want to wield it effectively.
Use To Catch Enemies Off Guard
Catch opponents off-guard by using the Chainsaw for surprise attacks, especially when fighting in tight spaces. Look for opportunities to disrupt groups of enemies. Use aerial attacks or ground strikes to catch multiple foes off-guard, forcing them to scatter and making them vulnerable to follow-up attacks.
The unexpected nature of the weapon can overwhelm your enemies and throw off their defenses. The Rush Attack is a game-changer for closing the gap between you and your target — rushing in fast and slashing for 85 damage ensures your enemies won’t have time to react.
Manage Your Fuel
Monitor your fuel levels and timing. Be strategic about when to use fuel-intensive moves, as you’ll want to have some available for key moments. Remember that fuel regenerates over time, so plan your actions around its availability.
Use To Reposition
If you’re low on health or outnumbered, the Rush Attack can double as a quick getaway, helping you disengage before things get worse. Additionally, mastering this move isn’t just good for combat; it’s great for traversing the map faster. Whether you need to stay ahead of the storm or reposition during a fight, the Chainsaw's speed boost can keep you mobile when it matters most.
You can not use Rush Attack in the water, so be careful with repositioning around lakes and rivers.
