What Is The Ghost Train?

The Ghost Train was introduced for Fortnite’s Halloween event, Fortnitemares. It adds a spooky element to the game, transforming an otherwise standard train into a more festive ride. The train travels around a specific route on the map, emitting eerie sounds and glowing with a ghostly aura.

It will be marked on your map as a moving train icon.

Inside the Ghost Train, you will find four small chests — two placed near the interior door frames on each side.

Additionally, near the front of the train, there is a Combat Cache known as the Train Heist Chest. This special chest can be hacked by pressing the interact button, starting a visible countdown for players within a 25-meter radius (roughly the train’s length).

Once the timer ends, rare loot will appear, typically including consumables and various weapons, making the cache a prime target for anyone aboard.

How To Get On The Ghost Train

Getting on the Ghost Train can be a bit tricky due to its speed. When moving at full pace, the train outruns a player sprinting on foot.

The easiest way to board is to position yourself ahead of the train's path. When the train hits you head-on, it launches you into the air, giving you a chance to land directly on it. Another opportunity to board arises at train stations, where the train slows down, allowing you to run alongside it and jump aboard.

How To Travel Distance On The Ghost Train

Traveling long distances on the Ghost Train is straightforward.

Once onboard, all you need to do is stay on it as it moves along its route. The train takes about nine minutes to complete a full circuit around the map, covering a total distance of around 3,500 meters. To achieve 1,000 meters of travel, a requirement for the Fortnitemares quest, you only need to remain onboard for approximately three to four minutes.

This distance can be completed across several matches.
