If you logged in to set some Rivals times in Forza Horizon 6 this week and noticed your times have been wiped from the leaderboards, don’t be alarmed. While annoying and permanent, it is an intended deletion that has been addressed and explained by Playground Games.
The reset of affected Rivals leaderboards was mentioned in Forza Horizon 6’s 398.92.0 patch notes. Unfortunately, cheaters are to blame for everyone getting punished.
Playground Games Will Not Stand For Your Unrealistic Entries
Playground refers to “unrealistic entries” in the latest Forza leaderboards, and that, sadly, the only way it can think to remedy the situation is by making everyone start over. “These unrealistic entries have been achieved through the exploitation of glitches or obtained by using Drag Tires before the latest physics balance changes we’ve introduced on June 15,” Playground explains. “Therefore, we’ve made the decision to proceed with a complete reset of the affected Leaderboards, which will be wiped as soon as these exploits get patched in the game.”
“We understand this will be disappointing to players with legitimate lap times; however, we’ve chosen this approach so that way everyone has a clean sheet to play with going forward.” Playground adds that you won’t lose any Collection Journal items you may have unlocked through Rivals leaderboard placement, even after the big reset.
The exploits used to register these unrealistic entries are being hunted down and removed from the game. It isn’t until that has been achieved that the affected leaderboards will be reset; otherwise, those same cheaters could simply take advantage of those exploits again and reassume their unworthy positions near the top of said leaderboards.
Now's Your Chance To Prove You're One Of The Good Ones
It’s disappointing, but look on the bright side. If you’re as good as you think you are, then this reset will allow you to ascend even higher up the Forza leaderboards, as there won’t be cheaters getting in your way. A game with the player base Forza has, there will always be cheaters, but hopefully there will now be a few less to ruin your fun, even if that does mean you have to be punished for their crimes along with them.
This is also very different from the bug that was wiping progress last month since this leaderboard reset is intentional. Shortly after the latest Forza’s launch, several players encountered a bug that was erasing hours of progress as Playground scrambled to find a fix. So many were affected by the issue that, as developers tried to figure out a permanent solution, they issued a temporary workaround to prevent more players from falling foul of the problem and to try and avoid those with lost progress having to start over.
