Portuguese Retailer's New GTA 6 Pre-Order Listings Suggest It'll Cost Around $80 And Also Have A $200 Collector's Edition
Portuguese retailer FNAC has several pre-order listings for Grand Theft Auto 6, and the cheapest suggests that it'll actually cost $80 instead of $100 like we've all been assuming.
Earlier this week, Rockstar Games dropped a bombshell on all of us patient GTA fans by announcing that pre-orders for the game are officially set to begin on June 25, which was paired with a cover art reveal and a snippet of the game's main theme. After more than a year of waiting, it seems like we're finally getting that summer marketing we've been promised for a long time.
GTA 6's pre-orders going live might not seem like a big deal outside of the fact that we'll very likely get Trailer 3 to go alongside it, but it actually means we'll finally be able to know just how much the game is going to cost. While most of us have accepted that it'll probably be $100, a Portuguese retailer has several SKUs on its site, with one suggesting it'll cost around $80.
FNAC Thinks GTA 6's Cheapest Edition Will Cost $80
There's Also A Listing For What Looks Like A Collector's Edition
As pointed out by Redditor venom_daemon on the GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit, Portuguese retailer FNAC has recently put up multiple SKUs in preparation for GTA 6's pre-orders going live in just a few days. There are a total of five SKUs, each ranging in price and seemingly representing a different edition of GTA 6.
The SKUs aren't explicitly called GTA 6 and are instead named "RS" for Rockstar. The November release date is really what gives it away, though.
The cheapest version of GTA 6 on the site is €89.99, which amounts to around $80. If true, that would mean that GTA 6 is being priced the same as most big triple-A releases, instead of leaping ahead to $100 like most of us have assumed for some time. Of course, FNAC could just be guessing and putting a placeholder price down, but with pre-orders on the distant horizon, it's not impossible they know the price.
Alongside that version of the game, there are also versions costing €99.99, €109.99, and €119.99, which might represent the premium and ultimate editions. It could also just be FNAC preparing for a range of prices for GTA 6, which is worth keeping in mind before you get too excited about an $80 price point.
The final SKU for GTA 6 that's available on the site right now is listed for €199.99, suggesting that it's for a collector's edition of GTA 6. If the price point is accurate, then the collector's edition of the game is going to be surprisingly cheap at less than $200, which makes me think the listings could just be preparing for all prices. We'll know for sure in a few days, but it's interesting to see the first retailer listing.
