Summary

  • Game Freak's infamous hacker has claimed that they won't leak Pokemon Scarlet & Violet info.
  • One of the reasons given is that any potential leaks could force Game Freak to cancel in-game events that may be planned.
  • Another is that the hacker is fearful of leaking info about the Nintendo Switch 2, and the resulting crackdown by Nintendo as a result.

It's been a pretty wild time to be a Pokemon fan recently, as someone managed to hack Game Freak and spread all kinds of previously withheld data across social media. This data has resulted in some truly wild revelations, strange stories about Pokemon and humans having children together, and details surrounding future and past projects.

What we haven't had a lot of is information regarding the more recent Pokemon releases, such as Scarlet & Violet. We found out a few days ago that this hacker does have access to the source code of various Pokemon games on the Switch, but it turns out that they have a couple of reasons as to why they're not dishing out the goods.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Leaks Won't Happen As Hacker Fears Leaking Switch 2

According to a comment from this mysterious hacker, shared by Pokemon-focused Twitter account Centro Leaks, they have serious reservations about leaking details about Scarlet & Violet as they want to try and minimize the risk they're putting themselves under. One of the reasons the hacker gives for the lack of Scarlet & Violet is to avoid Game Freak potentially canceling plans for future events if they were made public.

Another big reason (and arguably the more interesting) is that any leaks about Scarlet & Violet could potentially "reveal information in relation to the Ounce console", which was recently discovered to be the codename of the Switch 2. They claim that leaking any info could badly damage Nintendo, but also make them angrier at the leaks and start cracking down hard.

That's fairly understandable, since Nintendo does have a history of ruining someone's life if they feel like they've crossed them in some way. However, this does imply that there is information about the Switch 2 among all these Pokemon leaks that hasn't been revealed yet, and that it could potentially involve Scarlet & Violet.

That's a lot of unknowns, though the resulting claims that this is proof a Switch 2 version of Scarlet & Violet either was or is in development are pretty much baseless. Unfortunately, it sounds like we may never know what details about Scarlet & Violet this hacker is referring to until much later down the line, possibly when we have the Switch 2 in our hands.
