Whether you liked the epic fantasy world, the interesting characters, or just a good RPG every so often, here are some games that share similarities with BG3. Now, it is updated with modern games that look at similarly creepy enemies and a couple of fantasy and sci-fi classics to see where Baldur's Gate 3 got some of its ideas.
30 Dragon Age: Origins
Some Dungeons, And A Few Dragons
Dragon Age: Origins
RPG Released November 3, 2009 ESRB M for Mature: Blood, Intense Violence, Language, Partial Nudity, Sexual Content Developer(s) BioWare Publisher(s) Electronic Arts Platform(s) PS3, Xbox 360, PC Genre(s) RPG Powered by Expand CollapseA fantasy world nearly overcome by an army of dark creatures, a group of diverse characters led by a chosen protagonist, and plenty of adventures are all things that the Dragon Age games and Baldur's Gate 3 have in common.
While the darkspawn aren't the only threat to the world, they make for a great antagonist in the first game, which is definitely where you should start if you aren't familiar with Dragon Age as a whole. It may be older, but it holds up incredibly well.
29 Destiny 2
Save Earth... Again
Destiny 2
FPS Released August 28, 2017 ESRB T For TEEN for Blood, Language, and Violence Developer(s) Bungie Publisher(s) Bungie Platform(s) PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, PC, Stadia Genre(s) FPS Powered by Expand CollapseSometimes, going alone in an RPG-type game isn't enough. If Baldur's Gate had you wanting more connection with your party members then Destiny 2 might be more your speed. Part RPG, part sci-fi epic, and part MMO, it's a fun mic.
Compounding on the first game's successes, Destiny 2 has you once again as a guardian of the light, set to protect Earth and the deific Traveler from aliens and darker entities that wish it harm. A story told through various missions and raids feels like many of the bosses battled in BG3, albeit a bit faster.
28 Bloodborne
Beware The Blood
Bloodborne
Action RPG Soulslike Released March 24, 2015 ESRB M for Mature: Blood and Gore, Violence Developer(s) From Software Publisher(s) Sony Platform(s) PlayStation 4 Genre(s) Action, RPG, Soulslike Powered by Expand CollapseThe creepy worm-like Illithids that you face in BG3 are no match for the creepy worm-like creatures you'll come across in Bloodborne. Sure, they both want to take over your body and transform you for evil purposes, but it doesn't feel as ominous as the plague that takes over Yharnam.
Hunting the monsters that haunt the Victorian city is no easy matter, so if you thought Baldur's Gate 3 was too calm, then this might be the best pick for you. You'll need quick reflexes, good weapons, and patience, above all, if you want to see the entirety of the twisting plot Bloodborne has for you.

Geralt and his companions are likewise memorable and will share some great moments.

Disco Elysium is another detective story, this one following the freshly hungover Lieutenant Harry Du Bois and his partner, Kim Kitsuragi, as they investigate the body of a man who's seemingly been lynched. The only downgrade may be a more rudimentary UI design and no mature content, but the game is also half the price of Baldur's Gate 3, so that's something to consider.
