Whenever an update is announced, the entire player base gets together to learn about the characters that will be joining the huge roster in Genshin Impact. There are over 50 unique characters to choose from, and they belong to different elements, weapons, and rarities. This lets every player find their comfort character in Teyvat.

While five-star characters can be out of reach for some players, some amazing four-star characters can perform the same task. Yanfei is one of these four-star characters, and she uses a Catalyst with a Pyro vision. She is a lawyer in Liyue and knows her way around different loopholes and rules.

Raw Damage Build

There are only a handful of four-star characters that have the skill set to support on-field raw damage play style. Luckily, the developers have given that power in the hands of Yanfei, and she uses it elegantly. Characters wielding the Pyro element are known to have destructive tendencies, and this character lives up to them.

Yanfei's Charged Attacks are the primary source of her damage output since the damage dealt by these attacks is buffed in many ways:

  • She gains Scarlet Seals every time she hits an opponent with a Normal Attack. You can have up to four seals and they're all consumed when you perform a Charged Attack, increasing its damage.
  • Apart from directly buffing the Charged Attack DMG, Yanfei's Elemental Burst also gives you a Scarlet Seal every second after use. This effect stays for 15 seconds unless you leave the field.

Apart from increasing the Charged Attack DMG, the Scarlet Seals also decrease the amount of stamina consumed for the attack. Yanfei's Charged Attack stamina consumption is quite high if you perform it without any seals in your possession.

Moreover, you can only get three seals if you don't have a certain constellation on this character. Her constellations also further decrease her stamina consumption.

Unlike most of the DPS characters who get a temporary DMG buff after using their Elemental Skill or Burst, Yanfei can have a significant damage output whenever she's on the field. This makes Lost Prayer to the Sacred Winds a perfect weapon for this build on her. The weapon gives you an eight percent Elemental DMG bonus every four seconds while you're in battle.

You can have up to four stacks of this DMG boost, and they last until Yanfei falls or leaves combat. The main purpose of this build is to keep her on the field as much as possible, and it can make her one of the best characters for open-world exploration. With enemies scattered all around, you need constant damage to deal with them.

Lost Prayer to the Sacred Winds is a five-star weapon, and it can be quite hard to get for free-to-play and low-spending players. As a replacement, Blackcliff Agate can be used for its Crit DMG and ATK Percent boost.

In terms of artifact sets, Wanderer's Troupe is your best choice since it gives you a 35 percent Charged Attack DMG bonus. This damage boost stacks with the boost provided by seals and Elemental Burst, making Yanfei unstoppable. The Elemental Mastery bonus on the two-piece of this artifact can help you if you're fighting an elemental opponent as well.

Reaction-Based Damage Build

Yanfei is one of the few four-star characters that can perform even better than many five-star DPS characters. Although, the combat system in Genshin Impact is heavily dependent on reactions, and you can't get the most out of her if you don't use her reaction-based build to clear difficult fights like Spiral Abyss.

Vaporize and Melt are among the strongest reactions in the game, and both of them involve Pyro. With this build, you can fully manipulate these reactions and deal an astounding amount of Charged Attack DMG with Yanfei.

The Crimson Witch of Flames artifact set fits this build too perfectly, and here's what it does:

Two-Piece Bonus

Having two artifacts from this set gives you a simple Pyro DMG Boost of 15 percent.

Four-Piece Bonus

Having four artifacts from this set increases the damage dealt by all the Pyro-based reactions. Not only does this set increase the Vaporize and Melt DMG by 15 percent, but it also gives you an additional Pyro DMG Bonus after using Elemental Skill.

Pyro DMG Bonus is a priority stat for Yanfei, which already makes this set worth it. You can pair her with characters from different elements to trigger reactions and get the most out of the four-piece bonus as well. Although, Crimson Witch of Flames can be quite hard to farm because you might not have any use for the other artifact set in the domain.

To bypass this, you can use the Artifact Strongbox mechanic in the game. This mechanic lets you create one random five-star Crimson Witch of Flames artifact by spending three bad five-star artifacts.

Gilded dreams can also be a great replacement for this build since it can give you up to 230 Elemental Mastery, which is an essential stat for reaction-based builds. As for the weapons, both Mappa Mare and The Widsith can be good on her because they increase her damage heavily. The Widsith can be a little irregular because of its inconsistent passive.

Whenever you get a certain artifact piece, it can have a wide range of main stats and sub-stats. The stats you get are purely based on luck, but they can make a huge difference in the damage output of your character. Here's what you should be looking for based on your build:

Talent Priority For Yanfei

Every character in Genshin Impact is released with three active talents that can be upgraded up to level ten. These consist of the character's attacks, Elemental Skill, and Elemental Burst. For Yanfei, you need to focus on her Normal Attack talent first because her Charged Attack gets a ton of DMG boost with this upgrade.

You can follow this up by upgrading her Elemental Burst to give her even more Charged Attack boost. Finally, you can upgrade her Elemental Skill to get some extra damage whenever you use it. Yanfei is also one of the few characters who need all of their talents upgraded.
