When you’re looking for a sprawling game filled with secrets, gunfights, and stealth tactics, it’s hard to go wrong with anything from the Ghost Recon series - specifically Ghost Recon: Wildlands. It’s a massive game that took fans of the series by surprise upon its release. With plenty of fantastic mechanics to try and lots of options for dealing with any situation, the game is a bit of a hidden gem.

The thing is, just about every game ever made could be improved in some way. While Ghost Recon: Wildlands is undoubtedly a good game, it could always get even better with just a few minor tweaks. Even huge fans of the game can admit that a few changes here and there would take a fun experience to one that they’ll never forget.

10 More Creative Infiltrations

There is a ton of fun to be had with the core gameplay of Ghost Recon: Wildlands, but it is also fair to say that, for some, it can become more or less the same thing over and over. There is a pretty clear most efficient way to tackle every challenge the game throws at you.

It does try to create new challenges in areas of higher difficulty, but a bit more creativity in the overall infiltration of compounds could have gone a long way. With a few tweaks, you could have infiltrated a location alone while your squad waits on the outside to provide cover fire.

9 Add In Disguises

Wildlands is far from being similar to the Hitman series, but if it took a few queues from the iconic assassination series, a lot of moments could have been more interesting. On both a gameplay level and a story level, being able to throw on a disguise could have been perfect.

It adds yet another layer to infiltrating a compound or heavily armed part of town. Sure, something like that may not be the most realistic thing around, but a lot of people are willing to take creative design choices that improve gameplay over realism any day.

8 More Enemy Classes

While there is no shortage of enemies to fight, a skilled player couldn’t be blamed for viewing them as just more of the same each time an encounter begins. Most enemies and cartel members feel incredibly generic, but they could have been so much more, and that includes a lot of the bosses as well.

A particularly interesting idea would be to add a sort of 'wanted' style meter that determined when a group of specialists would be sent in to counter your squad. Imagine going in for an infiltration, only for a skilled group to ambush you out of the blue.

7 Better Sniper Battles

There is a lot of fun to be had with snipers in Wildlands, but most people won’t be feeling like they’ve come out of the school of Sniper Elite. Better overall sniper play could add an entirely new level of depth to the game.

If enemy snipers were programmed with better AI than the average enemy, it could make most players think twice about simply assaulting any of their target locations. Plus, be honest, everyone loves a good cat-and-mouse sniper battle every once and a while.

6 In-Depth Side Missions

No one can criticize the sheer amount of missions available in Wildlands. They’re often a lot more rewarding than Breath of The Wild’s Korok’s, but they also aren’t all that varied. A small caveat would be that most of the game's missions technically count toward the overall story.

The issue is the things like stopping a convoy, stealing a plane, and dealing with transmitters. They are fine little missions, but they get old fast. Once you’ve completed one, you’ve completed them all. Adding a little extra oomph and variety to your side objectives could have really made a difference.

5 More Customization

This point is definitely a bit of a nitpick that could be put in every game. Players always want more access to customize every aspect of their favorite games, and to be fair, this game does give you plenty of customization options.

Still, having the option to create a convoy of personal vehicles could have added more to the game, especially when playing with friends. Even more fascinating, customization options to create your own infiltration missions or unique regions for others to play could have been legendary and kept the game going for so much longer.

4 Different Drone Types

It might sound like blasphemy to say more drone types would have been interesting, since most people do become weirdly attached to their important little drones, but it would go a long way. Again, a bit more creativity in missions and compounds rather than quantity could have made the use of different drones a must.

Maybe an infiltration took place in a large factory without huge open areas, the best bet could be to send in some kind of small ground-based drone to roll around in order to gather intel and formulate a strategy.

3 Change The Flying Missions

There are few things that make you feel freer than flying around. Unfortunately, flying in Wildlands is a bit subdued for the most part. Sure, there are moments of bombastic action while flying, but those are few and far between. A few beginner tips are practically required for expert flying.

A big change could be to the flying side mission, something that can be an absolute pain. For those who aren’t great with flying, an entire area of supplies is essentially lost. At the same time, adding a bit more action to flying could have made deciding to dart from spot to spot on the map in the air a bit more dangerous.

2 Make Driving Worth It

As previously mentioned, it’s almost always better to snag a helicopter and simply fly to a location. It’s far faster, and in most regions, you’re likely to be met with far less resistance. It’s that exact thing that often makes driving feel like an afterthought.

Some people only ever end up driving when required by a mission, or simply to get to a helicopter. It’s another realism-breaking suggestion, but a bit more personality for vehicle traversal could have made driving actually useful in any way.

1 Add Some Unique Consequences

Everything boils down to a gunfight at the end of the day. To shake things up a bit, it would be great to have access to some other consequences. When playing alongside a group of friends, it would be interesting if members of the group could be taken as prisoners if they alert enemies while infiltrating an area.

This would add a new layer of gameplay as the remaining members of the team could then decide to either go in guns blazing to stop the capture, or to wait it out and stealthily break out the team member. Things would get even better if that captive team member had some way to save themselves at the same time. It would be even better as a hidden mechanic for players to find.
